Here is his picture.
I’m glad it looks like he’s still alive. I’m getting tired of all these MOH citations for dead people. Some may think that falling on a grenade is heroic, but it just doesn’t impress me that much.
It’s much better to have a hero who can save himself as well as others. There is nothing more impressive than meeting a MOH winner in person.
>>Some may think that falling on a grenade is heroic, but it just doesnt impress me that much.<<
I’m sure the men whose lives were saved by Cpl. Jason Dunham wouldn’t agree with that asinine statement.
That is one brave warrior.
Pray for W and Our Marines
Idiot
Couldn’t agree more.
>>Hearing multiple foot steps over his position, Bellavia used his Gerber tactical blade and cut into the left side of the insurgents throat.<<
>>SSG Bellavia single handedly saved three squads of his Third Platoon that night, risking his own life by allowing them to break contact and reorganize. He then entered and cleared an insurgent strong point, killing four insurgents and mortally wounding another.<<
One helluva mean fighter. I am glad he’s on our side!
He more than deserves the MOH...babysat a reporter while clearing a house alone? Killing a guy with a Gerber tool? Dear God! This is a guy you do not piss off lightly.
Please be advised you are an idiot studying to be a moron...... and failing.
I have seen a lot of dumb things said on this website over the years but your comment above ranks as one of the two or three dumbest things ever posted on Free Republic
Da*n! Sometimes you just have to pay respect to someone who’s a whole heck of a lot braver than I could ever imagine myself to be. Can you imagine someone of this caliper receiving orders from President Obama or Hillary? Didn’t think so.
Probably one of those guy’s who could not get a job and so joined the service. (sarcasm) What a hero he is! We should be proud of all our military.
His book is an excellent read, my impression is that he is a humble man for all his deeds.
Quite honestly I think most Medal of Honor recipients would be embarrassed to be in your presence based upon those comments you have made towards those that earned the Medal the hard way.
>>Some may think that falling on a grenade is heroic, but it just doesnt impress me that much.<<
It use to be taught in the US ARMY that if there is time to throw yourself on a grenade, there is time to throw it away. I was also told this by people with combat experience.
That said, of course, the people who do save others this way are heroes. They were probably taught better, but are heroes even still.
Just so there’s no misunderstanding...that’s NOT my comment...it’s the comment of a vile @sswipe to whom I replying earlier in this thread.
David Bellavia is also a founding member of Vets For Freedom which is supporting our troops against our domestic enemies.
Which part of Congress is giving the medal? Rambo couldnt have written this better. Have this kid run for VP !!!
