I’m glad it looks like he’s still alive. I’m getting tired of all these MOH citations for dead people. Some may think that falling on a grenade is heroic, but it just doesn’t impress me that much.
It’s much better to have a hero who can save himself as well as others. There is nothing more impressive than meeting a MOH winner in person.
>>Some may think that falling on a grenade is heroic, but it just doesnt impress me that much.<<
I’m sure the men whose lives were saved by Cpl. Jason Dunham wouldn’t agree with that asinine statement.
Idiot
Please be advised you are an idiot studying to be a moron...... and failing.
I have seen a lot of dumb things said on this website over the years but your comment above ranks as one of the two or three dumbest things ever posted on Free Republic
Quite honestly I think most Medal of Honor recipients would be embarrassed to be in your presence based upon those comments you have made towards those that earned the Medal the hard way.
The Medal of Honor isn’t about you.
My FRiend if you have ever had a grenade lobbed in your direction (I have) you would never EVER forget.
In nearby Chicago there is a very nice lakefront park named for Milton Olive (USMC).

There others known and unknown.
May their total devotion to their buddies never be forgotten.
The stupidity of that statement says you are beyond hope.
>>I am a native of Seattle, and attended many fine institutions of higher learning such as the United States Military and various different Harvard Schools and Departments.<<
I’ll lay odds that you were a Reservist Supply Officer in the Air Force who pulled duty at a UN building. It is evident that you certainly didn’t spend a single hour in the mud with the fighting men on the front lines.
Besides which, two of the Medals of Honor so far awarded for service in the War on Terror have been given for actions in which the person receiving them was killed by small-arms fire. SFC Paul R. Smith was killed by a gunshot wound to the neck as he manned a .50cal machine gun in an effort to prevent several hundred Iraqi soldiers from overrunning a number of 3rd Infantry Division support units during the Battle of Baghdad. And Lt Michael Murphy was mortally wounded by multiple gunshots as he moved out into the open to call for a helicopter extraction for his four-man SEAL Team after they came under attack by 150-200 Taliban fighters in the mountains of Afghanistan.
Begone, fool!
One doesn’t “win” the MOH.
you may want to ask the mods to remove that ridiculous post, or suffer the consequences here
Hmmm. Try it lately? I bet it impressed the guys whose lives were saved, but hey...that's just me.
Silly Sheeple.
You're probably impressed by some basketball player scoring a triple double.
One thing to keep in mind is that Jason Dunham didn’t just instinctively fall on a grenade. He had thought about the possibilities and, lo and behold, the opportunity presented itself. It seems to have been a calculated move on his part.
I know what you mean, its just so stupid isn't it? /sarc
When a young man knowingly exchanges his life for that of several others, that's heroism of the highest order. It says something sad about you that it doesn't mean much to you.
Besides, you're arguing with Jesus on this one: "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."--John 15:13
