How Sick Is That? Environmental Movement Has Lost Its Way
Greenspirt ^ | unk | Dr. Patrick Moore Co-founder of Greenpeace

Posted on 03/29/2008 11:33:00 PM PDT by Exton1

Beginning in the mid-1980s, Greenpeace, and much of the environmental movement, made a sharp turn to the political left and began adopting extreme agendas that abandoned science and logic in favor of emotion and sensationalism. I became aware of the emerging concept of sustainable development—the idea that environmental, social, and economic priorities could be balanced. I became a convert to the idea that win-win solutions could be found by bringing all interests together around the same table. I made the move from confrontation to consensus.

Environmentalism has turned into anti-globalization and anti-industry. Activists have abandoned science in favour of sensationalism. Their zero-tolerance, fear-mongering campaigns would ultimately prevent a cure for Vitamin A deficiency blindness, increase pesticide use, increase heart disease, deplete wild salmon stocks, raise the cost and reduce the safety of health care, raise construction costs, deprive developing nations of clean electricity, stop renewable wind energy, block a solution to global warming, and contribute to deforestation. How sick is that?

The entire “Global Warming” debate evolves from this quote 19 years ago, after the fall of the Soviet Bloc:

“We must embrace Environmentalism, for Socialism to survive”- Hans-Jochen Vogel, Chairman of the West German Social Democratic Party-1989

Gorbachev said in 1987 that ENVIRONMENTALISM would be the vehicle for Socialist control of the world.

The Religion of Climate Change is simply a vehicle to that end...

The so called environmental movement has nothing to do with the environment. It is only an excuse to mask the true intent of socialists to replace our democratic republic with a strong centralized form of government that destroys the Constitution by taking power away from the people and puts into the hands of a select few.

"How Sick Is That? Environmental Movement Has Lost Its Way"

I was a young liberal in the 1980s when this happened and I remember this groundswell very clearly, when the environmental movement went from pro-environment to anti-conservative, anti-Christian, anti-Reagan.

It was especially notable in the National Geographic Society. The famous magazine, National Geographic, looked the same but the reading content became nothing more than leftist drivel and honored everything EXCEPT pro-Western, pro-Judeo-Christian, pro-American notions of life, business, culture, etc.

The environmental movement has been taken over by the Left. Its obsession seems to be to rollback our industrial civilization and its life-saving and standard of living gains. It also wants to deny people in the Third World the benefits of a healthier and safer First World existence. How sick is that?

The political agendas behind many environmentalists has obscured the good work in environmental science done by people who do not have political agendas, which annoys me. There are real problems putting seven billion people on this planet and providing them all with useful, productive work that won’t lessen the chance of future generations to do the same. These problems have solutions. They can be accomplished without emotional claptrap.

My Aunt was always a democrat, but as she aged through the Reagan years she became wary and weary of her beloved environmental groups. She soon stopped her contributions to many groups because of the negative hysteria they expressed.

Following a very conservative line of thinking she began investigating ‘her groups’ only to find out the money often never made it to where it was supposed to go. She stopped contributions and looked for new groups who would best utilize her money. I give her a lot of credit for realizing it was her money they were using. Too bad that line of thinking never made to the issue of taxes contributed to the government.

Like her I agree that we need a clean environment, but look at the wackiness of the environmental movement and am stunned.

One of my most vehement fights lately has been over the use of CFLs. Challenge one of the folks about the disposal of these bulbs or do they know what to do if they break? And watch their heads literally explode.

I am pleased to see the confirmation of the plan to use "the weather" to socialize the world. I have long felt that was the case.

It actually goes much further back than 19 years. Long ago when I was reading Communist doctrine in an effort to gain a better understanding of the enemy, I came across a statement made by Marx.

During an exchange of letters with one of his trusted sycophants, discussing the possibility that socialism would not take root in England because of the emerging middle class, Marx stated something to the effect that, we can always use the environment (as opposed to economic plight) to bring about the revolution, because no one can do anything about the weather.

Rent the old movie Soylent Green (1971) and you will hear the professor attribute the plight of the environment to carbon emissions and rising global temperatures, almost word-for-word what professor algore has been saying for the last 20 years.

So, it is my opinion that environmentalism is basic tenet socialism, Marxism, communism.

Absurdly enough, they’ve figured out they can make money and get power via these tactics - they very things they supposedly decry.

BS. It always has been a tool of the super rich by which to bring economies under the sway of government. The agenda is about buying regulatory favors to weaken the public and make money.

Was Michael Savage the one who coined the term “Watermelon” for these folks? Green on outside, red (communist) on inside.

“Sustainable development”? Sure it’s possible, once enough surplus people have been starved to death. Can’t make omelets without breaking eggs, ya know... /s

Environmentalism (Global Warming) has turned into a Religion
Eco-Nazi's Ten Commandments....
"And Gaia spoke all these words, saying: 'I am Gaia, goddess of the earth and mother of Sheryl Crow and the Manbearpig...
  1. 'You shall have no other goddesses before Me.'
  2. 'You shall not make for yourself any mode of transportation -- anything with an engine, that uses fuel from the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth, or in the forest.'
  3. 'You shall not take the name of Gaia, your goddess, in vain.'
  4. 'Remember the Flora and Fauna and keep them holy.'
  5. 'Honor the Spotted Owl and Snail Darter.'
  6. 'You shall not kill a flower or tree.'
  7. "You shall not cross pollinate.'
  8. 'You shall not use steel.'
  9. 'You may bear false witness against your neighbor for using fossil fuels.'
  10. 'You may destroy your neighbor's house; your neighbor's wife, his male servant, his female servant, or his car, or his SUV, anything - if their Carbon Footprint is too large.'
They're all --- Cuckoo - Cuckoo - Cuckoo

It was especially notable in the National Geographic Society.

It is sad that the left has poisoned the once exciting field of science and discovery.

It is sad that these days I have to caution my kids about the leftist agenda in things like articles on cave exploration, birds, Antarctica, biology, botony, and medicine.

Whatever happened to science for the sake of science and academic advancement?

“Gorbachev said in 1987 that ENVIRONMENTALISM would be the vehicle for Socialist control of the world.”

That bit of “Gorbage” is was preceeded by Gus Hall who said that environmentalism would be the home of Communism in America.

As a past member of Sierra Club’s Florida Executive Committee, both Hall and Gorby were telling the truth.

Floriduh is proof of how far their treasonous plans have come.

"Environmentalism has turned into anti-globalization and anti-industry."

Pat Moore is continuing his game of diversion. The environmental movement is the primary thrust of the effort to give the U.N. terrorists the power of taxation. Pat knows this full well.
