You cannot talk about Marxism, Communism or Capitalism in societies in which the majority of the population depends on subsistence agriculture and is illiterate / untouched by outside influence.

Nice try but I doubt that even you believe that the marxism that has plagued African politics is centered in the illiterate masses. You know full well that it is the elite, like your boy Odinga, who had the luxury of a fine (and free) Communist education. Do you think that Odinga named his son for Fidel Castro on a whim? Africa’s problem is not with political creeds but with tribalism and a bad leadership.

As far as I can recall, only one of Africa’s major conflicts has been ideological based (i.e between Dos Santos’s MPLA and Savimbi’s UNITA). The rest have been tribal (Whites versus indigenous peoples: Rhodesia, Namibia and South Africa).(Inter-tribal: Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Burundi, Biafra, Liberia, Darfur) or religious (Sudanese Civil War).

Of course not. Unfortunately, Fidel Castro is much more popular than Reagan and Thatcher on the African continent. The reason is because while Reagan was largely silent on apartheid, Fidel Castro openly supported the anti-apartheid fighters like Mandela. However, the most popular US presidents / ex-presidents are George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.
