I intend to turn on every light in the house and shine out there for all TO SEE!!

Don't forget to take a long, hot shower too.

I suggest we do this during the news hours in each time zone everyday of the year.

That would accomplish a lot more.

This stupid Observing Earth Hour” is all part of the Global Warming hoax which is designed to in part bring down capitolism that is the bread and butter of our country. Think about it folks....who will be getting rich off of all this??

Algore and his carbon credit company.

Dear Abby,

I went to bed a hour early one day this week. Does that count as a carbon credit type offset for me to leave my lights on during Earth Hour tonight?

Confused in NC.

I tried to email Google about how idiotic it is for them to turn the screen black. If they wanted to make a difference, they would shut down their search engine for an hour. Couldn’t find the page that would let me send an email. I’d appreciate the info if anyone has it.

LOL. Don’t tell me that candles are dangerous — I work for a candle company — opposite of “Conferederate” Candle Company. I light mine every day, and I love it. :-)

Stupid liberal tree huggers...

Maybe true, but the power companies with their tens of millions of street lights, and poorly designed over powered residential lights have all but destroyed and washed out our night skies.

So many damn lights, the stars have been all but totally washed out in an ugly urban hue.

Much of this could be eliminated with just good lighting designs that direct the light downward where it was intended, instead of setting the night sky aglow with nasty artificial mercury vapor and sodium vapor light.

My four outside lights are now operated by motion detectors..I refuse to burn them 10 hours a night, 365 nights per year...And I probably save 225 bucks a year just doing this.

Screw the power companies.

If a little prodding from an organization like Google helps then so be it.

It's peer pressure and condescension. Most people who don't agree with the premise that GW (or now Climate Change) is man made will respond negatively to the snotty liberal peer pressure. I know I do.

The response to these meaningless demostrations are meant to show how stupid they are..... "Illustrate stupidity with stupidty".

I'd rather have a lower electric bill, but I could care less about reducing CO2. I use what I need and conserve for economic reasons only.

.....Screw the power companies....

so much venom, so much erronous thinking.

The cities procure and pay fo the electricity used for street lighting. The streets are lighted because the public demands the security of light. Street lighting preceeded electricity by many years.

Your ire is misdirected.

People, lighten up (no pun intended).

I went to Google to search for something this morning and got a chuckle out of the black page.

It’s their site. They can do anything they want with it. Freedom of speech and all that, you know?

The animosity against success (boycott Walmart, Google is of the devil, etc.) astounds me. I don’t agree with Warren Buffett’s politics, but I’m happy to own his stock.

Relax and smile occasionally.

"However, you can do something to reduce the energy consumption of your home PC by joining the Climate Savers Computing Initiative utilizing an alternate Search Engine other than Google.

DONE!!!

I think candles in the hands of normal people are ok.

It's the people who probably can't even take care of themselves (ie they want Kommunism) and think "Earth Hour" will actually save the planet that you have to worry about.

I'd bet they would burn their houses down with candles at a disproportionate rate and actually increase carbon emissions as a result!

So they changed their site back ground from white to black, but left their energy sucking servers up and running? Shouldn’t I be getting a 404 error message if the server was powered off? Hypocraps!

If those lefty weenies were not hypocrits, they would turn off their servers. But, they love the wallet green too much.

BS. Nobodys demanding anything except for the political hacks that are being paid off.

If you'd read my post, you'd understand, that if these idiots want a street $75,000 street light every 60 feet, design the damn thing where it doesn't turn our night skies in an ugly ghetto mercury vapor/sodium vapor hue.

If they turned off all their data centers which are sucking hundreds of megawatts, I’d be impressed. Other than that, it’s another one of your standard liberal feel-good annoying gestures that doesn’t do anything at all.

I would give them more of a break, if 90%+ of Google employees were not hard leftist and big doners to the lights off party.

I also don't like that they support censorship in China and often bend their search results against conservatives and moderates.
