I collect those radio and TV ads, but they are rarities, not because they were unique, but because so few of them survive - most were trashed it seems. In the 60s, Madison Avenue commissioned those songs directly from the bands on the cheep compared to the massive royalties and license fees they pay now for recycled songs that have no link at all to the products. My all-time favorite is Cream's Falstaff Beer commercial from '69, done in a few minutes for payola in the form of "all the pints we could drink" according to Jack Bruce.

Today, a band of Cream's stature actually composing music & lyrics for a product endorsement is unheard of (except Peter Frampton for Geico - but that's another topic - eh, in his case it's career enhancement). Can you imagine Dave Matthews or Hootie & The Blowfish doing the "FreeCreditReport.com" spots dressed as pirates??? lol!
