Former Terror Detainee Recalls Captivity (on 60 Minutes, of course)

(CBS) A German resident held by the U.S. for almost five years tells 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley that Americans tortured him in many ways - including hanging him from the ceiling for five days early in his captivity when he was in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Even after determining he was not a terrorist, Murat Kurnaz says the torture continued. Kurnaz tells his story for the first time on American television this Sunday, March 30, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

Kurnaz, an ethnic Turk born and raised in Germany, went to Pakistan in late 2001 at age 19 to study Islam and wound up in Pakistani police custody. It was three months after 9/11, and Kurnaz says the U.S. was offering bounties for suspicious foreigners. Kurnaz says he was "sold" to the Americans for $3,000 and brought to Kandahar as terrorist suspect.

He claims American troops tortured him in Afghanistan by holding his head underwater, administering electric shocks to the soles of his feet, and hanging him suspended from the ceiling of an aircraft hangar and kept alive by doctors. "Every five or six hours they came and pulled me back down and the doctor came," he recalls. "He looked into my eyes. He checked my heart and when he said 'okay,' then they pulled me back up," he tells Pelley.

The U.S. Pentagon responding by e-mail says, "We treat all detainees humanely… and all credible claims are investigated thoroughly…. The abuses Mr. Kurnaz alleges are not only unsubstantiated and implausible, they are simply outlandish."

Kurnaz, who has told his story to European investigators, says "[It] doesn’t matter whatever they will say. The truth will not change… this is the truth."

The real truth is that as a Muslim and a terrorist he is required to lie as often as he can to try and destroy the American People. And CBS is giving him the platform to do that - TRAITORS all!

Just another episode of the 60 Minutes jihad against America. I’ve never been able to determine who it is that’s watching this anti-American garbage and keeping it on the air. Maybe the DNC. In all my years, I have never been asked, “Did you see 60 Minutes last night?” by anyone. Never. Ever.

Wouldn’t it be fun if the 60 minutes host actually read the passages in the Quran that point out it is not a sin to lie to an infidel & read from the Al Queda manual that instructs them to say they were tortured if captured, and then ask him why on earth a single person would believe his story. I guess I am dreaming.

The most important thing to note here is that Murat Kurnaz is telling his story. We don’t hear the victims of 9/11 telling their stories, nor do we hear the uncounted victims of Saddam Hussein’s vicious tyranny telling their stories. This jerk should be thankful he’s breathing and STFU.

“Kurnaz says he was “sold” to the Americans for $3,000”

Now he’s bought by MSM for a more substantial amount.

went to Pakistan in late 2001 at age 19 to study Islam and wound up in Pakistani police custody.

Coupla details missing there for some reason. Went to Pak "in late 2001 to study Islam"? Gosh, amazing timing, dya think? I can't imagine why anyone would have thought that suspicious. And then he "wound up in Pakistani police custody"? How? Because he committed a crime? If so, of what sort—of a terrorism sort, perhaps?

I guess they didn't want to tell us about that, because it would have made his story sound less innocent.

What proof does 60 minutes have that anything this guy says is true? Can Dan Rather vouch for him, or at least manufacture some evidence?

This sentence is a lie.
