Mother of All Cultural Battles (Obama, conservatives and what's at stake in this election)
The Corner at National Review Online ^ | 28 March 2008 | Stanley Kurtz

Posted on 03/28/2008 8:40:00 AM PDT by SE Mom

After listening to these autobiographical excerpts from Barack Obama’s Dreams From My Father, read out loud by Obama himself, I’m left with the conviction that, in the 2008 election we are facing the mother of all cultural battles.... But it’s now evident that even a Hillary campaign would be tame by comparison to the cultural confrontation flowing from an Obama nomination. The transformation of the 2008 campaign into a full-fledged cultural battle is what is really emerging from the Jeremiah Wright flap.

A president who identifies with Malcolm X? A man who grew up alienated from ordinary American life and determined to avoid becoming a "sellout" by hanging with Marxist professors and radical feminists?

.... Conservatives may think the revelations of Obama’s formative radicalism and his relationship with Wright are sure to sink him. While they may ultimately have that effect, the outcome is by no means certain. Contrary to liberal denials, Obama has been damaged by the Wright affair. Yet it’s also true that association with leftist and academic radicalism is no longer disturbing to large segments of the country.

.... The Democratic left now believes that the United States is ready for a genuinely "progressive," paradigm-changing president. They are not abandoning Obama, and are not even fully capable of seeing how damaging Obama’s background and underlying worldview seem to many (although they are worried enough to try to cover for him). But the country is changing and we can no longer be certain of the impact all these revelations will have.... And if Obama should win, the culture clash of the Clinton and Bush years is sure to go on at full blast...

“we’re in for the mother of all cultural battles..”

We would be, if there was a republican candidate.

What we will have is just a question of how much we surrender.

There is no way that Baarack is a Christian after spending 20 years in that church. Taught to be a Muslim at an early age always a Muslim.

I’ve been following the discussions and excerpts of Obama’s book(s) at NRO ..very disturbing stuff..

I believe Obama is a much greater menace than Hillary- and I didn’t think that was possible.

Good grief, as usual, our sides’ media, (Kurtz) is way behind the times.

We have already lost, 40 years ago when we allowed the left to take over all forms of mass communication; broadcast news, newspapers, mags, Hollywood films, TV entertainment, all levels of academia, and all levels of gov bureaucracy.

There is no “battle”.

From the church website:

“We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain “true to our native land,” the mother continent”

from their “10 point Vision”

A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA
A congregation committed to LIBERATION.

A congregation committed to RESTORATION.

A congregation working towards ECONOMIC PARITY
****************************************

Yes, indeed. A ‘different kind of patriotism - TO AFRICA

This is BLT - Black LIBERATION Theology = that this church is “committed to” per above.

Here is how one of the leaders of BLT outlines it :

“Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community ... Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love. “

This is what obamama needs to be questioned on. This is the stated tenet of the church - which he refuses to leave...and continues to support.

http://www.tucc.org/about.htm

If obamamama gets to the WH, they will unleash the “Quiet Riot” across this county and woe to you who live in the cities...Listen to the video - obamama is speaking in the “safety” of a conclave of BLT ministers and friends...and lets the cat out of the bag about the coming riots that will ensue when they start implementing their Black Power over Whitey. Listen to what he thinks re Katrina, etc., and see if this sounds like a ‘uniter’ or a BLACK MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE - a Polished, Programmed Pupper of the BLT movement.

We let this man get near the WH or even continue in any power capacity at our peril

I’m convinced that the Obama campaign started before the 2004 election. By the time Obama gave that sermon at the DNC convention, he had already been nominated by the far left forces of the DNC (George Soros). Hillary was just a red herring, thrown in the mix to keep the uncommitted liberals in line. We should have been more circumspect when Hillary’s Democratic Leadership Council was pushed aside by the radical left wing of the party. We should have seen this coming.

I remember remarking to everyone who would listen, after Obama gave that Marjoe imitation at the Dem Convention in 2004, that Obama was slick, too slick, and more than a little scary. No paid much attention, though.

Critical insights here. Big problem is that the majority of 'head-bobber/head-nodder-for Obama' have no clue what they are asking for as they chant 'yes, we can!' for change. (Time for MSM or at least, Repubs to warn as to just what IS Black Liberation Theology; 'id' it's Marxist roots and the fact that it is more aligned with radical Islam than it is with Christianity. (And herein, perhaps; lies it's special appeal for Obama). Also to get the word-by-example out as to how this radical 'theology' translates into Obama's vision for America. Investor's Business Daily has; but even Fox News has not gone to the 'root of the problem here'. Nor have Repub leadership. Conservative talk radio. . .engaged in the light-weight 'tit-for-tat' examples of Obama on Rev. Wright.)

Anyone who is not familiar with Franz Fanon’s book, “The Wretched of the Earth,” should study up on it. He is the Karl Marx of Postcolonialism.

I’m not saying anyone has to read the book, but they should certainly read ABOUT it, because it’s the basic text that underlies the academic leftist resentments embodied in Postcolonial Theory and the work of people like Edward Said.

And it’s clear that Obama has sucked it all up. This is NOT inconsistent with his also being a Muslim. There is a vicious combination of Arab nationalism, Islamism, and Marxist Postcolonialism out there, all working together.

Trust me; you were not alone in feeling a ‘fear coming on’ not only by Obama’s presentation; but by it’s reception. . .and wanting ‘warning signs’ beside this man’s name.

I believe Obama is a much greater menace than Hillary- and I didn’t think that was possible.

It is a toss-up.

Then, throw McCain into the mix. The conservatives are doing the same thing they have done for several presidential cycles -- 'well, he's an R, so he must be ok; besides, he's better than the other'.

No one really knows what direction McCain will go. Amnesty? He is still pushing it. First Amendment? He recently advocated outlawing 527s. Judges? He voted for Roberts, but he also voted for Ginsberg and supported Miers, but felt Alito wore his conservatism on his sleeve.

McCain is a loose cannon and no one knows what he will do.

The results of the 08 election are going to be a toss-up -- both with the winner and with his/her governing policies.

Sad, but true. When it comes to social conservative issues, McCain is on the wrong side much more often than not. Tragically, it is the Republican nominee who led the fight on the Senate floor against the Marriage Amendment.

The cultural battle was probably lost in the 1992 election. Since that time, the PC Marxists have made gains that I did not think possible. I shudder to think what more they can gain under Obama.......or McCain.

Yes, the reception was a real give away. I was wondering where they got that audience, who were raising their arms to the sky and swaying to the hypnotizing cadence of Obama’s sermon. I was particularly struck by the use of emotional buzz words and the repeated mention of a very generic “god”.
