A local newspaper is reporting that "South Valley Peace Center" in Visalia is having a "Rolling Vigil for Peace", starting at 1pm in Visalia at Akers Road and Hwy 198, moving to Mooney Blvd and Caldwell Ave at 2 pm then going to Tulare (Prosperity Street and Hillman Ave) at 3 pm and ending up in Porterville at 4:30 pm (Henderson Ave and Prospect Street), to commemorate the death of the 4000th soldier in Iraq.
I am informed today by the Porterville Police Department that this "organization" with the spokesperson of Maurice Ecung has not put in a request for an assembly permit, and that normally the Police Department want such requests filed 4 days before an event is scheduled.
Anybody want to file for a permit to counter-demonstrate in support of our troops and the global war on terror?
This is going to be this Saturday, March 29.
Ping for troop supporters in California’s Central Valley.
P.S. I sent boxes to the troops for Valentines and Easter but have been too busy to post them.
Ping for all you Visalia Freepers!
Check this out. Is there time to pull a freep together?
Thanks for the heads-up. We will definitely check with the PD tomorrow and see if they have a permit for Tulare.
Thanks, Nan. Unfortunately, we have a big job to shoot Saturday, softball teams.....all day. But we are definitely going to contact the PD tomorrow and see if they have a permit and also give them a heads-up about the location and time they will be in town.
Ooooo, ball team. That’s fun. I think Roy has to photograph all the lawyers in town tomorrow or Sat. morn. Hopefully, it will be a lucrative shoot, but then again, it is lawyers.
LOL! But how many lawyers can your little town have?
You get paid for shooting lawyers where you live? Need any help? ;0)
LOL! But how many lawyers can your little town have?
LOL! ;-)
More lawyers than citizens I think. One on every corner and a dozen in the courthouse. LOL
Seriesly? LOL. That's surprising.
Thanks for checking out Tulare!
They may assemble without a permit, however. So, if you know anyone who can drop by your local corner with a troop support sign.... please give them a heads up.
Now, why couldn’t this have been on March 15th? I would have had the time to drive that far to participate in a FREEP.
Hey, Ben. I’ve been thinking about Diamondhead a lot this last year, as he and his wife helped pack up some of the first care packages we sent out to the troops.
Can either of you check with Visalia PD if this group or this man has a permit?
Can either of you show up at one of those corners with a troop support sign at the time indicated for Saturday and stand across the street? If there’s only one, you may not need a permit to “assemble”.
Hey, if the “peace” demonstration is postponed a week, could you come on April 5th?
However, for all I know this “group” is just one guy with delusions of importance, and he is hoping that the publicity will bring some like mindlessed people out to join him.
I will certainly see what I can do if it’s on April 5th. Perhaps my son and I could arrange for a trip down to my step-mother’s, which is very close to Visalia and Tulare.
Bump!
