Director Oliver Stone has set James Cromwell to play George Herbert Walker Bush and Ellen Burstyn to play former first lady Barbara Bush in "W," a drama about the formative years of their son, President George W. Bush.
Josh Brolin is playing the title character, and Elizabeth Banks will play first lady Laura Bush.
Stone will direct from a script by his Wall Street co-writer Stanley Weiser. Moritz Borman is producing with Bill Block and Jon Kilik.

Didn't this guy play Zephram Cochrane, the inventor of warp drive, in the last decent Star Trek movie?

Director Oliver Stone has set James Cromwell to play George Herbert Walker Bush "That'll do, pig. That'll do."
To: Non-Sequitur
Cromwell is an extreme lefty.

He always plays “The Bad White Guy”.
To: Callahan
That guy was Jack Bauer’s father. Also the star of the movie about the pig.
He is also a flat out communist.
Yeah, that’s an Oliver Stone casting job, for sure.
To: Callahan
umm...fighting-yesterday’s-war alert.

James Brolin as “W”? Barbra S's husband?
‘Guess we know where this is headed

Yes, he invented the Warp Drive, had a pig herding sheep, and was a not very nice Police Captain in LA Confidential. An excellent actor, and like nearly all of them hard left. I have strong doubts that this will be an homage to either President Bush.

Like all the Iraq movies that have come out this year, this will bomb big time. Anybody remember seeing Stone’s “Nixon”, with Anthony Hopkins?

He made Nixon into a drunk, which is the one thing he wasn’t according to aides.
He’ll make Bush a dunce who wants to please his daddy.

No. His son, Josh Brolin:
It's supposed to be about Bush's "early years" so expect lots of boozy comic relief followed by an insulting "come to Jesus" scene at the end that foretells the Iraq war. Should be some fine liberal propaganda for the Wal-Mart DVD bin.

Brace yourselves. W will be standing out by an oil rig, talking with the field hands after a hard-drinkin' night before...with VERY long, frappy hair...smoking a cigarette...
I saw one such photo during a Search for something else...easily recognizable...can't remember where or I'd post it...but it's out there somewhere...

Cromwell also played a plain clothes detective on an episode of “Three’s Company.” He was hitting on Chrissy (as played by Suzanne Sommers) at the Regal Beagle and when Cromwell showed up at the apartment shared by the three room-mates, Jack (John Ritter) slugged Cromwell.
