ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- An Orange County sheriff's deputy on Thursday shocked an 11-year-old girl with a Taser gun at an elementary school after the girl punched her in the face, authorities said.
The altercation happened during announcements at Moss Park Elementary School, located at 9301 N. Shore Golf Club Blvd. in Orlando, Orange County school officials said.
According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the girl pushed another student into oncoming traffic, and the student who was pushed reported the incident to a teacher. The teacher approached the student, but the 11-year-old ignored the teacher and walked to her homeroom class, according to the sheriff's office.
The homeroom teacher also tried to talk to the 11-year-old girl, who became agitated and began to shove her desk and chair, Orange County sheriff's deputies said. The girl was asked to go to the office but refused and yelled and spit at the teachers, deputies said.
The school resource officer was called to remove the student, who pushed the deputy and punched her in the face, causing her nose to bleed, according to the sheriff's office.
The deputy attempted to secure the student, but she continued to fight, so the deputy shocked her with her Taser gun, the sheriff's office said.
The girl and the deputy, who may have suffered a broken nose, were transported to Florida Hospital East, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
The student was arrested and faces charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, disrupting a school function and resisting with violence.
The girl was then transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

C, all of the above. And an incompetent school system too.
Wow, that one is a tough call.
Good, I’m tired of undisciplined rabble who think the world owes them respect.
Both maybe?
Sounds like the kid had it coming.
Out of control kid’s fault. Part of the Jerry Springer generation.
I have friends who are public school teachers who have been physically assaulted by children as young as 5 and 6- their injuries required medical attention. I’m going with evil child here.

“Orange County Deputy Donna Hudepohl pulled out her Taser and fired it at the Moss Park Elementary School student after repeated efforts to control her. The Orlando Sentinel is not publishing the student’s name because of her age, but she faces charges of battery on a law-enforcement officer, disrupting a school function, as well as resisting with violence, the arrest report shows.”
“Rescue crews transported Hudepohl to Florida Hospital East with a possible broken nose, Corporal Susan Soto of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.”
Don’t tase me, sis.
I’d add incompetent parents to that mix too. I taught public school long enough to see the signs. A boy I taught is now on death row because his parents would not cooperate with anyone and refused to acknowledge that their out of control child had a problem since preschool.
You’re blaming the school system for an out of control kid? Wow.
susie
But her mother said she was always a good child... :)

In this case, I’ll vote bratty kid.
Battery on a law enforcement officer, by an 11 year old. A girl at that! But hey, I guess the student is lucky she didn’t get shot or clubbed with a maglite. Sheesh.
Yes if I were the cop I would taze the parents too.
My son is 10, there are a couple of girls in his class that are well over 5’ and 130 lbs. If she was as large she would probably handle the taser better than an adult her same size.
However if it was my kid that got tased at school I would be wanting to take her out to the woodshed for acting like that, then take the cop there for tasing my kid, then find the teacher and drag her there on general principle then the principle....
