CHARLOTTESVILLE -- State police say a sniper wounded two people and hit at least four cars on Interstate 64 near Afton Mountain this morning.
The injuries were not life-threatening and the victims were treated and released from Augusta Medical Center. More than 20 miles of I-64 was closed between Charlottesville and Waynesboro from shortly after midnight until about 6:20 a.m.
State troopers, Charlottesville police and Albemarle County deputies are searching wooded areas along the interstate, but no suspect has been found.

Probably biting someone's sister.....:)
My thought exactly.
“Where is Chief Moose when you need him?”
He is still looking for that White Van with the White Racist snipers in it.
All they had on the local CBS affiliate was an info babe standing at a VDOT (Virginia Department of Transportation) depot who said the searchers found some pistol casings as she was setting up for her 0500 segment. But all we could see was styrofoam coffee cups presumably placed over the casings.
Of course, my Marlin shoots 357 magnums so even if they are pistol casings that's not conclusive of anything.
We don't JUST laugh, we laugh while we prepare to find his ass and then kick his ass.
Not if the prosecutor tries to impeach them by calling character witnesses. Besides, I'd say these cats have a pretty well established record for moral turpitude.
Last I heard they were shutting down both sides of 1-64 for 22 miles around the community of Crozet and up to Rockfish Gap where the interstate crosses the Blue Ridge. For a while they also shut down US 250 which sort of runs alongside I-64. I bet the morning commute across the mountains was just a joy and a delight.
Knowing that stretch of road, the “sniper” could’ve been anywhere. Probably some drunk idiot who decided that blasting road signs wasn’t enough of a challenge.
I love that climb up Afton Mountain. Such great scenery.

Right now, our suspects are some White men in a White van.
Time to question everyone in the Charlottesville phone book named Shiflett (or Shiflette or Shifflet or...)as to their whereabouts.
He got hired in Philadelphia.
Ummmmmm....like...I am....like
a 4-Star General, with ribbons.....and....everything.
I can....like...search everyone's home without a warrant...

Update 9:09am: State Police will have a news conference at 10:00am near the UVa campus. We’ll update this story as we learn more.
CHARLOTTESVILLE (AP) - A 20-mile stretch of Interstate 64 between Charlottesville and Waynesboro is open again as Virginia State Police continue searching for someone who took shots at vehicles on the interstate.
State police say at least four cars were struck by bullets along an 11-mile stretch of I-64 last night. Sergeant David Cooper said the first call came in just after midnight. He said two people reported injuries and went to hospitals in Staunton and Waynesboro. He said neither person had life threatening injuries, but he didn’t know if the victims were struck by a bullet or by glass.
I-64 was closed about 6 hours, from mile marker 96 in Augusta County to mile marker 118 in Albemarle County and the interstate was reopened in both directions at 6:20 a.m. as police continued investigating the shootings. Cooper said investigators gathered evidence overnight were closely checking several interstate ramps near the shootings, as well as woods in the rural area.
Cooper said he didn’t know if there was more than one shooter or what type of gun or guns were used.
Last I heard, he was on the Honolulu PD as a rookie. Do you have an update?
The answer to this is very straightforward. We need to ban interstate highways. If we didn’t have interstate highways, incidents like this would never happen.
Thnx. 10 AM huh? That’s going to interrupt my mid morning nap ....
Wikipedia supports your info.
“Moose has since graduated from the Honolulu Police Academy[3] and has now reported for duty as one of the newest members of the Honolulu Police Department.[4]”
thanks for the laugh
From my cold dead radial tires ....
There are many 9mm rifles as well.
