It’s not a question of her political affiliation per se. And while I know that Diane did work for Nixon long ago, I believe she has since become reliably liberal. She’s a huge global-warming alarmist, for example.
I am shocked though by her imagining that insurgents had actually breached the embassy perimeter in the Green Zone and fired their mortars from there. To me it shows glaring unfamiliarity both with indirect fire and the extent of the security that surrounds the embassy.
It sounds like she’s referring to rockets and mortars getting inside the Embassy, not insurgents. She’s responding to Johnathan Karl’s statement that a rocket or mortar actually landed inside the US Embassy compound.
