Twenty top Democratic donors who are supporting Hillary Rodham Clinton criticized House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for saying superdelegates should support the presidential candidate with the most pledged delegates.
No matter what the outcome of the 10 remaining contests, it will be nearly impossible for Clinton to overcome rival Barack Obama's lead in pledged delegates, because they are awarded proportionally based on the outcome.
So it will be up to the nearly 800 superdelegates party activists and elected officials who aren't bound by any vote to put one of the two candidates over the mark of 2,024 delegates needed to win the nomination. Obama has 1,406 pledged delegates to Clinton's 1,249, according to The Associated Press count.
Pelosi, who has not endorsed either candidate as chair of the Democratic National Convention, said during a March 16 appearance on ABC's "This Week" that it would be harmful to the party if superdelegates don't support the pledged delegate winner.
In their letter, Clinton's supporters said superdelegates "must look to not one criterion but to the full panoply of factors that will help them assess who will be the party's strongest nominee in the general election."
The letter also noted the donors "have been strong supporters" of the House Democrats' fundraising arm. "We therefore urge you to clarify your position on superdelegates and reflect in your comments a more open view to the optional independent actions of each of the delegates at the national convention in August."
Obama spokesman Bill Burton said, "This letter is inappropriate and we hope the Clinton campaign will reject the insinuation contained in it."

Teddy Kennedy, John Kerry, and Bill Richardson come from states that the “popular vote” went to Hillary Clinton in their Primary elections...and yet all three have pledged to vote for Obama...Are they all going to change their votes to Hillary now?
>Bo)
Here’s another case where Hillary Clinton told a bald-faced lie...

How can any democrat feel comfortable when such people run for president?
Most Blacks will realize they have always been delegated to the back of the bus on the ride around the plantation. It is sad but true how white liberals have used and abused them. Then Jesse Jackson and Al sharpton, et al are so invested in racial turmoil, it has turned into a viscious circle.
The very purpose of super delegates is to act as a check on the voter's stupidity because the elite know best. It is a very Democrat concept, albeit not Democratic.
I can think of no group more deserving of a riot in Denver. They may get it even if Obama agrees to take second spot and plead for unity.
BTW, the last losing VP to get elected on a Democrat ticket was FDR. Who was the last sitting VP to win election as a Democrat?
YES!! If it looks like Obama is going down, they will switch and they will be able to say.."Hey, we voted for the Black Guy, now we support the girl...we are good liberals".
Denver ain’t gonna happen.
Nope. These are the Godfathers of the Limousini Liberalas family. They've had a meeting...decisions have been made. Pelosi kept the Minutes. Only the Clintons have yet to be made the 'offer'...
John Edwards still has 26 delegates
http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/03/17/national-delegate-count-tally/
these 26 could be very important in the final count, especially if Hildabeast can get close.
what if she is only 25 delegates behind after the primaries are over....what would John Edwards want to endorse her and send those 26 votes to her?
maybe she can give him some tips on where to get his hair done.
I still say every primary should be on the same day in every state. No more of this king making before we get to cast a vote. The voting should be on a Saturday from 6 am to 9pm. None of this New Hampshire and Iowa crap. Enough is enough.
I’m staying far away from Denver this summer.
The whole purpose of the super delagate is to give the "most electable" candidate the best chance of winning. If, the closer we get to August, OsamaObama's numbers tank and the Hildabeast's rise, the super delegates will most likely vote for Clinton, giving her the nomination. If this happens it won't be pretty - on a number of levels. Blacks and Obama supporters will (understandably) go batshit, and the 'Rats will be forced to expose to the public just how corrupt their super delegate system is.
i guess pelosi doesn’t think it should apply to richardson or kennedy or kerry, etc (afterall they ignored the voters of their states)
...and besides if pelosi thinks they are just supposed to support the peoples choice, they why are there even superdelegates in the first place?!
I hope it makes Chicago in 1968 look like a pic-nic.
One way to look at it might be Pelosi and Hitlery would end up in a big Cat Fight.
there is NO WAY that hussein obama would have anywhere near the votes he has if the people of iowa onward were aware of his pastor of the last 20 yrs
...hussein is a fraud...but take comfort in knowing that he is al-quaeda’s first choice for president
Even as late as this afternoon I have talked to an Obama supporter who had only heard a little bit about the Obama paster master. MSM had to get some of it out, but as little as possible.
Remember, Pelosi outranks the big, bad "junior" Senator who got her seat handed to her on a platter.
Dig in, pleaty more where this came from!! :)
