Obama's Pastor Slurs Italians in Latest Magazine By Penny Starr CNSNews.com Senior Staff Writer March 26, 2008

(CNSNews.com) - Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., pastor emeritus of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago where Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) has been a member for two decades, slurred Italians in a piece published in the most recent issue of Trumpet Newsmagazine.

"(Jesus') enemies had their opinion about Him," Wright wrote in a eulogy of the late scholar Asa Hilliard in the November/December 2007 issue. "The Italians for the most part looked down their garlic noses at the Galileans.

"From the circumstances surrounding Jesus' birth (in a barn in a township that was under the Apartheid Roman government that said his daddy had to be in), up to and including the circumstances surrounding Jesus' death on a cross, a Roman cross, public lynching Italian style. ..." Wright wrote. "He refused to be defined by others and Dr. Asa Hilliard also refused to be defined by others.

"The government runs everything from the White House to the schoolhouse, from the Capitol to the Klan, white supremacy is clearly in charge, but Asa, like Jesus, refused to be defined by an oppressive government because Asa got his identity from an Omnipotent God," said Wright.

Every issue of the magazine published last year included Wright's column, "The Message," in which he covered a range of subjects, including his views on other African-American churches as expressed in his April 2007 commentary "Facing the Rising Sun."

Funny thing is, I thought garlic use was a later preference in Italy? Maybe it was imported into Italy:

“The ancient Romans carried the garlic medicinal practices of the Greeks forward. Galen (129-199 A.D.), personal physician to the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius, and whose writings were to influence Arabic and western medicine for over the next thousand years, called garlic “the theriac of the peasants,” an inexpensive near “cure all” for a wide variety of almost countless ailments.”

Wright is like Archie Bunker without the attempt at humor.

Bill and Hillary and company are pulling out all the stops and letting the garbage flow. They are out to completely destroy Wright with his own words. In this case maybe they are justified. but I cannot help think that Jeremiah is not the only black preacher spewing this garbage every Sunday morning.

"The Italians for the most part looked down their garlic noses at the Galileans.

This guy sounds more and more like that Hamas kids show that spews hate and propaganda.

Unfortunately, my Italian uncle and his family will vote for Democrats because they remember the "New Deal" and "Republicans are not for the little guy."

Sigh.

It looks like Wright is not that bright. He is not just a bigot, but an ignorant bigot. How can someone so blatantly biased get so much press? This is very sad and frightening and chilling. As a beginning student of biblical history, I have no idea how anyone could connect those dots, or even see such dots! Incredible! Wright is clearly another Marxist Democrat with a warped and twisted disordered mind.

How can someone so blatantly biased get so much press?

Think Jessee Jackson and Al Sharpton, they been saying some very vile and rascist comments going on 20 yrs. Cannot be called on it because they are the anoited victim class.
Wright is just following in their footsteps

I think that there are a significant number of black preachers that are spewing this hatred.

The EEO representative at my base stated that blacks can not be racists. My Commander stated that the EEO reps are being taught that in their courses.

So... not only is this being taught in the churches, it is being taught in the colleges and to the EEO community. It is just not being reported on.

Does anyone know where I can buy a tee shirt that has the words “typical white” stenciled on it?

I guess this preacher never read Psalms 22 which foretold of what would happen... God made the ‘garlic’ this trashing of garlic is more ‘anti-God’ than anti the peoples of Italy. And it is NOT as if anybody has anything to say about how the look of their nose... another attack against God who created all things.

There appears to be a lack of liberation in this guy's theology.

Well, the Romans were/are Italian after all....but I don't think Jesus took offense at their use of Garlic.

Just sayin' from a genuine garlic-nose.
