Anyone know where to get to disk all the service packs and hot fixes / updates?

A friend intends to run their business forever with it and wants to run all new machines he buys with XP that he owns, but at some point they will not be able to get updates from the Internet, so anybody know where to get all of it on disk for future safe keeping?

I love Vista, no complaints thus far.

Nothings inevitable, Microsoft. Buying a mac will take me half an hour. I’m already an ex user of IE, messenger, the hapless hotmail, etc etc etc.

I’ll use XP until I have no choice or until they come out with a bloatware-free version of Vista.

I’ll bite. I like Vista. It makes me feel less guilty about the crap code that I write.

Apple is going to LOVE this announcement....

Microstuff kills their most reliable OS on the market..
Vista is still getting horrible press, and lacks the drivers for a smooth transition with customer’s existing hardware..

Apple stuff simply..........works.
It’s really as simple as that.

I wouldn’t be surprised if, when all is said and done, XP outlasts Vista in the marketplace. XP SP2 is reasonably stable and compatible with the software and hardware that is in common use. Vista is just an ongoing nightmare.

Does even Microsoft or anyone already have it all on DVD or CDs?

Yeah could maybe save SP2,3 to disk, but I would like all the updates, patches and security deals on disk also.

Anyone put this together anywhere for one disk, DVD or what ever?

And thanks for a good starting place.

I installed SP1, and it is moderately netter.

But if I had an XP disk I’d be downgrading. Or is that upgrading?

"Let the Microsoft bashing begin. ;)"

I've been running primarily Unix (Linux, then BSD) since about 1997 and happen to have Microsoft® Windows XP® running in a virtual machine (XEN). XP® is so much more stable than 95® was. ...not so bad for testing Windows® software written with Unix systems--especially with the virtual machine protected from the mean, old Internet by NetBSD.

Thanks sincerely, Novell, for allowing me to use the word, Unix like that (re. comments after the SCO debacle).

And BTW, volks, I'll keep using XP for a long time before switching to Vista as an application testing system.
