I’d say that. I’d say we had a pragmatic relationship with them, when it looked like the Iranians were going to overrun them. “Friendly”? I don’t think so.

And there are more documents that we translated and posted here on FR that showed that Saddam regime was strongly connected to terrorism. However the liberal and their media narrative was the following” “was Saddam involved with 9/11”, the answer is no, so according to them Saddam regime has nothing to do with terrorism.

We had a relationship the same way we had one with the ex-Soviet Union. Not a friendly one, not even very cordial. Remember what DeGaulle said: “countries don’t have friends, they have interests.” We judged Hussein to be less of a threat at the time than Iran. Nobody had any illusions about Hussein.

The Fedayeen Saddam forwarded Uday Hussein a letter from Nazah, a widow requesting assistance with her husbands pension. She recalls that he carried out a suicide mission on 19 July 2000, and exploded himself at the [apparently Kurdistani] Ibn Sina Hotel during the presence of US and UK citizens. . . . She also mentions that he Detonated a car [bomb] during the convoy of [former French first lady] Danielle Mitterrand in Halsabajah City, which killed forty enemies. what's this? Saddam had a pension-plan?
