North Carolina has limited primaries. If a conservative registered Democrat to vote in the presidential primary, he would lose the opportunity to vote in the (much more important) state and local Republican primaries.

While I will enjoy the combat between the 2 dems, I really wish this convention was somewhere else. I live just outside of Denver and have a friend who happens to be a cop. Denver is already begging for help and training the locals to deal with the protesters. The general idea for these jokers is to have the cops touch them so the lawyers can sue the crap out of them (which is how they fund themselves). Some of their tactics are unbelievable and I just know its going to cost me money.

Yup. Gore rides to the Dems’ rescue at their ‘08 Denver convention.

Gore will point out that he won the primaries, won the Black vote, and won the popular vote in 2000. That will be good enough for the Dems. He won’t have to answer any other questions about not running in the ‘08 primaries after that response because the lap-dog news media will cover for him.

One of his Democratic counterparts was even more blunt: "It's one thing for John McCain to say [Obama's] not as muscular. It's another thing to have a girl saying it. It has some influence on swing voters."

That’s hysterical on many levels, not the least of it calling Hillary a girl.

"There is a mechanism in place--built into the process--to avoid that." That mechanism, such as it is, involves an en masse movement of uncommitted superdelegates to the perceived winner of the primaries.

LOL! That may be the fond desire of the TNR gnomes, but it ain't a-gonna happen that way. She Who Must Not Be Named still has the files and the negatives. The Dems sold her their collective soul and now they want it back. It doesn't work that way.

Except that this year the "lap-dog news media" is split between Hillary and Obama, and the Obama believers are genuine true believers. Once Gore gets the nod, should Obama buck the decision makers, there will be substantial support for him in the media.

I see the MSM being badly split this time around.

Obama was never a serious contender. He’s just a junior Senator in his first term, after all.

The surprise is that Hillary turned out to be an unserious candidate, as well.

Support for both is a mile wide but only an inch deep. They’ll be forgotten and dismissed in a single paragraph of old news after Al Gore rides to the rescue of Dems.

McCain will use John Roberts as his model.

Just speculating, but I think he'll be more likely to use Anthony Kennedy as his model. A John Roberts nominee, aka a staunch conservative, could not be described as "reaching across the aisle", which McCain so loves to do. An Anthony Kennedy nominee, aka a liberal Republican who can be counted on to vote with the liberals at least 45% of the time, would be much more palatable to the libs.

Only some local businesses think the democo is a good thing. I think they’re just going to make a PITA out of themsevles. The TFR (Temporary Flight Restrictions) in the area are going to be killer. Usually nothing can fly out of Centennial Airport in the heart of south Denver, or Jeffco, in northern Denver.

I’ll still take two Anthony Kennedy types to replace Ginsberg and Stevens over what the Dems will nominate.

Yep the black vote is important in a number of states.

The Dems. will have a hard time in PA without a strong turnout in Philadelphia. Ditto in Ohio with the need for a strong black/Dem. turnout in Cleveland. And Michigan Democrats depend on a strong turnout in Detroit to offset the rest of the state. If lots of voters who have been excited by Obama stay home rather than vote for Hillary, then McCain gets a big boost.

The case to be made is that that all indicators turned south after the Dems won the House and Senate in 2006.

Why don’t they just vote for Rush instead as a write-in candidate?

"McCain's courtship of the lunatic right."

Now is that a way to influence people? One lunatic calling others lunatic? Does this bring people together, in unity, and in hope, in solidarity?
