BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - After a failed run for president, Fred Thompson is getting back to pretending to be commander in chief.
Hollywood's high-powered William Morris Agency announced this week that it has signed the actor/politician, signaling a return to the screen for the former senator from Tennessee.
Thompson most recently appeared as grizzled district attorney Arthur Branch on "Law & Order" and has played authority figures in the films "The Hunt For Red October," "Die Hard II" and "In the Line of Fire."
Thompson dropped out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination on Jan. 22.

Just isn't the forum it used to be around here. But of course all things change.

Well said. I worry about anyone who actually WANTS the job of POTUS. It's either a power trip or as one of my old instructors said,
"Politics is not for the smartest or most intelligent people in the world. It attracts those who cannot succeed on their own and have to utilize others to be employable."
If you look at who we get as candidates, and who does all the 'expert' commentary on any of the stations, you understand how that is true.

You can’t get any lighter than McCain.
an unfortunate situation where there is NO conservative candidate this year....
I have to once again hold my nose if I choose to vote for the Republican candidate.....

I guess Reagan was the last conservative candidate, and that is now a generation ago.

“Just isn’t the forum it used to be around here.”
It’s gotten better once the paid shills for Romney left.
It was pretty funny — the literal hour he stopped paying staffers the pro-Romney spam on F.R. stopped.

I also miss having a candidate I could vote for without throwing up.

He came very late to the party and then acted like he didnt want to be there. In my view, he was pulled into his candidacy by loyalists who know his philosophies. He holds the current political process in contempt because of the contempt most successful politicians show their constituents.
I like his Federalist principles and I believe him to be honest. We lost when his candidacy ended. Not Fred Thompson.

Good for him! I still have a Fred bumper sticker on my vehicle. :) So do I. And I still get stopped all the time by people who admire it and want to talk about how good it could have been, and how lousy it is now. I just got stopped a few days ago in the Costco parking lot. And I live in WA ... I thought we were all lefties.

Funny, how so many will mock him, yet I don’t remember any of them shouting “Go McCain” on any of our threads back then.
