Haunting Obama's dreams
The International Herald Tribune ^ | March 23, 2008 | Maureen Dowd

Posted on 03/23/2008 11:58:04 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

It is a tribute to Hillary Clinton that even though, rationally, political soothsayers think she can no longer win, irrationally, they wonder how she will pull it off.

It's impossible to imagine The Terminator, as a former aide calls her, giving up. Unless every circuit is out, she'll regenerate enough to claw her way out of the grave, crawl through the Rezko Memorial Lawn and up Obama's wall, hurl her torso into the house and brutally haunt his dreams.

"It's like one of those movies where you think you know the end, but then you watch with your fingers over your eyes," said one leading Democrat.

Hillary got a boost from the wackadoodle Jeremiah Wright. As a top pol noted, the Reverend turned Obama - in the minds of some working-class and crossover white voters - from "a Harvard law graduate into a South Side Black Panther."

Obama blunted the ugliness of Wright's YouTube "greatest hits" with his elegant and bold speech on race. But how will he get the genie back into the bottle?

Pressed about race on a Philadelphia radio sports show, where he wanted to talk basketball, he called his grandmother "a typical white person, who, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know, well there's a reaction that's in our experiences that won't go away and can sometimes come out in the wrong way."

Obama might be right, but he should stay away from the phrase "typical white person" because typically white people don't like to be reminded of their prejudices. It also undermines Obama's feel-good appeal in which whites are allowed to transcend race because the candidate himself has transcended race.

Maureen is your "typical white person" elitist liberal that feels she knows the inside of our hearts. Did you know we're all prejudiced?

Maureen does understand that Obama is stereotyping an entire race of people, doesn't she? And doesn't she know that it's wrong?

I'm even quite sure she has railed against stereotyping people because of their race. It seems she has found an exeption: her own race, that is if there are any whites out there that want to claim her.

Any takers? No?

As I read about the “white man's” perceived prejudice, I could feel my hackles rise. The drool was obvious as she wrote of Obama’s “elegant speech”.

Sorry, I just don't see it-—on either point.

I understand that after the Republican sweep in 04’ that Dowd didn’t enjoy Thanksgiving because of the Republicans in the family giving her a hard time. After this article, if I were in her family, I don’t think I could eat with her because she would make me physically ill.

There is no rational argument in this lunatic’s rant at all. She just blabs whatever comes to mind in her deranged reality and expects people here on earth to understand this junk. Other than the fact that this article is intellectually bankrupt, demeaning to a “typical white person” and is a downright lie, no one here on earth with a single ounce of brain can honestly take this stuff seriously. What bothers me is that this kind of shoddy writing is so prevalent in the liberal media. If it had a reason behind the statements to argue with, then that’d be ok, we can have an intellectual debate, but this is opinion opinion opinion. This is a piece any second rate lazy college student could come up with in under an hour, to see this kind of writing in a news page is just disturbing.

You are absolutely right. Journalists in this country have fallen under their own spell. They are mesmerized by the “intelligence” and imagined profundity of their own words. Bottom line, they've started to believe their own press-—the death knell for any sort of real reporting.

Journalism students sure must not have the same sort of curriculum I had, in my few classes, for an English major.

No, he didn't blunt anything. He just provided some liberals with an excuse to look away. And his speech was neither elegant nor bold. It was simply an exercise in "Holy crap, I gotta do something quick to counteract reality or I'm dead meat." The problem is that he wasn't correcting an error in judgment or a misunderstanding. The reality still stands that Wright is a racist and that Obama joined himself to him at the hip for over 20 years. A "speech" won't undo that.

Great thoughts on the Liberal Mental Illness that has them writing such gibberish and thinking that they are rational journalist...it has reached a point where they really do believe their own PR. Reality will smack them on the head soon enough. Their Messiah is a punk member of the NBPP and they are clueless that they think he is electable as POTUS....it is too funny.

There’s nothing “elegant” or “historic” about a speech that references the OJ trial.

I thought she got in some good lines— the Rezko memorial lawn is memorable. And, I agree, I think Obama is a Neo-Black Panther.
