VATICAN CITY (AP) -- Italy's most prominent Muslim commentator converted to Roman Catholicism on Saturday during the Vatican's Easter vigil service presided over by the pope.
Italian journalist Magdi Allam attends a meeting in Milan in 2005.
An Egyptian-born, non-practicing Muslim, Magdi Allam has infuriated some fellow Muslims with his criticism of extremism and support for Israel.
The deputy editor of the Corriere della Sera newspaper, Allam often writes on Muslim and Arab affairs.
He told the Il Giornale newspaper in a December interview that his criticism of Palestinian suicide bombings generated threats on his life in 2003, prompting the Italian government to provide him with a sizeable security detail.
Pope Benedict XVI baptized seven adults during the service.

BTTT!
God Bless Pope Benedict XVI, a true missonary of the God of the Holy Bible!
...But the truth is that the Christian faith is in a boom time in the global south nations, including Asia and Africa, which would include many former Muslims coming to faith in Christ everyday, and in a special way, this Easter. A Blessed Happy Easter.
....But remember the saying “the blood of Christian marytrs is the seeds for new Christians” ? Any revenge attacks will simply make the ground fertile for new believers in Christ.
In the end it will be those of traditional Christian faith, like this Pope who will keep the fire of Christian faith going and help it to spread.
Welcome to the REAL FASTEST growing religion friend and congrats on your baptism!

Thanks for the link.
Strange world it is...I was just reading with disgust the words of that ‘learned’ former Episcopal Bishop, when on the same page to the right is a link to Anne Rice’s “My Trust in My Lord”.
Anne Rice?
The Vampire Lady???
She’s a Christian?!?
Wow.
I love the way God works.
I am not aware what is happening in the ME (I lived there for over 20 years) but Christianity does not have much of a chance in that part of the world. If what you say is true about the rest of the world then I can only rejoice.
A beautiful Easter to you.

Would love to have front row seats if the Pope could perform a posthumous conversion of Mohammad to Roman Catholicism. Bet that would upset the towelheads even more than cartoons of him boinking a porker ;-)
Brave man. Apostasy from Mohammedanism is punishable by death. Brave pope too.
