I read Sean Astin’s autobiography and he admits to being a socialist.

Nowadays I'm surprised when an entertainment type isn't a socialist. My theory is that most of them realize what a shallow and intrinsically worthless industry they serve, and inwardly feel empty and insecure. They realize there is nothing significant separating them from the "aspiring actor" serving their morning coffee at Starbucks, and that with a slight turn of fate they could never have escaped that life-- or worse, could end up back there again. So even though they are rolling in enough money to provide nicely for a hundred families if properly invested, their worldview is more in line with what you'd expect from a truck-stop waitress.

That, and also the fact that most of them are really stupid people who didn't bother to get much of an education.
