Saying Soth Carolina slavery was preferable to Jamaican slavery is like saying life under the Soviet style of communism was more humane than North Korea.
Techincally true but slavery,like communism,is a system based on tyranny.

Agreed. But the American south was still one of the very few slave societies in history where the slave population was not only self-reproducing but actually expanded its numbers.
Caribbean and Brazilian slavery was so harsh that large numbers had to be imported annually just to keep up with the death rate.

True what you say about the nature of Southern slavery versus Caribbean slavery.
Touches on something interesting I saw when I went to Grenada for a couple of weeks in 1986.Even everyday Grenadians were very literate and I was wrting several for a while upon my return to the states.Their grammar and spelling were impeccable and the contrast to most students here going to ghetto schools was remarkable.
The answer lies in the fact most were educated under the old British system which was very basic and strict.No nonsense and very traditional.Again proving that culture always trumps race when it comes to such matters.

...How could so many people not understand that white people have caused all the world's problems? As Wright pointed out to his congregation, the Bible says it's so. I'm not sure what verse actually says that, but I'm now betting that rich, white people are responsible for my biblical ignorance... I don't know about you, but I feel liberated now that I realize that my own stupid decisions and selfish actions are no longer my fault. Now that I won't have to accept responsibility for my thoughts, my words, or my decisions... now I understand that rich, white people were responsible for those non-white cab drivers' refusing to pick me up. I also realize now that rich, white people are responsible for poor children growing up in single-parent families... I now know too that AIDS and drug abuse are rich, white people's fault... I haven't figured out, however, how rich, white people caused Obama's father to abandon his responsibilities as a dad and a husband – thereby forcing someone else to provide for and care for his child... Yes, Obama, if America's evil corporations and economic policies were not preoccupied with causing greater suffering in the world, perhaps they could find time to develop medications to treat AIDS and continuously improve technology to better our lives...
