But, it would still be on his passport.

Yes,but his passport is in his possession. Most likely in his top dresser drawer next to his socks and cuff links. How would *this* info be in any State Dept file cabinet or computer database....unless the State Dept has capabilities and powers that I'm unaware of and seriously doubt exist?

‘scuse me.....

My passport has the stamps showing where I’ve been.
Those data DO NOT get transferred to the State Dept.!

The only thing in my State Dept. record is the data I furnished to obtain the passport.

Yes, you had to walk through customs and get your passport stamped. But did you also notice the American stamper typing your name into a computer? I'm not sure that there is a master file that records everyone's travels.

Don't know about you, but they swipe the main page of my passport through a reader upon entry. Okay -- they have departure and itinerary info when I leave, but that's it. They do NOT look to see where I've been when I return; my passport is full enough of stamps that that would take fmore than the minute or two Immigration spends on me.

Overbite is “recapping”. He is re-reading the report for about the 10th time. A little distraction... speaking of which...
O’Reilly is showing his nightly girls gone wild while interviewing some hapless PhD about what it means.

Okay, fine. But the Obama Camp will say something like: “Did the the State Dept. have travel restrictions for its citizens to travel to Libya prior to the 1986 U.S.-led bombings? If not, then he’s free to travel there... he decided to go to Libya instead of Cancun for Spring Break”.

Which is ten times more interesting than anything MSNBC has on.

when you get a visa you submit your passport number, country and place it was issued. Many countires check to make sure it is a real passport.

also whenever you visit a country and show your passport they check to see where else you have been. for example if you have an israel stamp you cant go to islamic states.

True. The democrat employment figures count everyone who doesn’t get a government paycheck as unemployed.

Sounds like much ado about nothing to me,

How would you feel if it were Hillary supporters looking up McCain's information like that?

The thing that worries me is not the fact that it's a Presidential candidate, but the fact that the State Department has this stuff around, and the government wants to collect even more of this information - if they can't safeguard what they have (and I don't consider it a safeguard if they had access to the data), then where does this leave things when they accumulate even more information on us, through REAL ID, etc.?

The three people who had access to Obama’s passport records were contract employees of the department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs, NBC News reported.

A senior official told NBC News there was “no political motivation” to the incidents, adding that the three were low-level contract employees doing administrative work and accessed Obama’s records out of “curiosity.”

This official told NBC News that he does not believe any of the information was sent anywhere.

A spokesman for Obama’s presidential campaign called for a complete investigation. The spokesman, Bill Burton, also demanded to know who looked at the file and why, and why the State Department did not reveal details of the security breach until now.

Just to get a general feel, how does this come down, bad for GOP, bad for Klintoon, or bad for Obama (although he’ll play the victim anyway)?

IMHO it's obviously too early to tell.
