Sen. Barack Obama called into sports radio 610 WIP this morning, charming the usually rambuctious morning talk show hosts and winning their endorsements. "People are really swept up [by this candidate]," said host Al Morganti. "It's almost like teenaged girls at a concert. It's goofy"
Before Obama's interview even began at 8 a.m., jocks Angelo Cataldi and Morganti greeted the Democratic presidential hopeful with a scatted, and offkey, rendition of "Hail to the Chief."
Obama's five-minute appearance didn't even touch on sports. The hosts, both entralled by the candidate's charisma, addressed him as if he were a rock star. It was more love fest than Meet The Press.

Obama said he may stop into the studio sometime.
He may have to do that sooner than he thought.
I think Obama tried to pull Granny out from under the bus, only she slipped and the bus ran over her again.

Hilariously, one caller suggested that Obama has a right to call his greandmother a “typical white person” since he, Obama, is half white himself. I was immediately reminded of that Seinfeld epsiode where Jerry’s dentist converted to Judaism so he could tell Jewish jokes.
Granny better get out in front of the cameras now... and explain whats really going on here.

If he’s willing to sell out his grandmother, I can’t imagine how easy it’ll be for him to sell out the entire country.
Too bad...I like Angelo, Al and Rhea, but this it seems they only ever have liberals on the show. Ed Rendell, Snarlin Arlen, and now Obama.

Having ill-advisedly done so, the Greatest Orator of All Time should never, never have followed that up by saying that his grandmother is a “typical white person.”

I go between Xpn, 1210, 990, and WIP on my car radio and whenever WIP swerves into politics I push the button. Those morons know their sports but as soon as they get political, they prove themselves hopelessly out of their depth (with the two exceptions being G Cobb and to a lesser extent, Big Daddy). Howard is the worst - - utterly clueless (although admittedly he finally got something right with this Obama gaffe).
Afternoon host Howard Eskin has been driving the same question all afternoon. “WHO is this ‘typical white person? Is it Larry Bowa? Keith Richards? Jason Giambi? Charlie Manuel? Is it Elton John?” Hilarious stuff!
Is the typical white person a racist? Is the typical black person a rapper? Mugger? Better at sports? Is the typical Mexican more hard working? I heard an Obama defender on Fox last night saying America is a "mosaic" not a melting pot.
I am NOT a typical anything, and if I am then Obama has to be a typical something. Turnabout is fair play. Very dengerous game.
All Obama had to say was his grandmother was “human” but no, he doesn’t think like that. Obama is deeply flawed and it IS the result of 20 years of Rev Wright and Chicago “Progressive” politics.
