I initially pictured this as just another in a long line of spoofs - Hot Shots, Airplane, Naked Gun, etc., and didn't think it'd be very good, but it has potential.
It's definitely going to be very politically incorrect. Robert Downey Jr even changes his accent in the movie to...well watch the end of the trailer and you'll see.
I expect he will catch hell for this, but it has potential to be funny.

I saw the trailer for this the other day and while I like Ben Stiller and relish watching Downey Jr playing a black guy, the movie just doesn’t seem like it’s going to be funny at all.
By that’s just my opinion.

He is an actor, isn’t he? Isn’t his job to play characters that he is not?
He’s not up there doing a George Kingfish Stevens or making a mockery of his character, by all reports.
So the PC crowd can go jam a lead pipe up their offramp.

I'm having trouble resolving those two statements.

If the Wayan’s brothers can dress up as “White Chicks” then the PC crowd has nothing to complain about. Downey Jr has to take on the part of the black character due to the movie being over budget. That is the premise of the movie.

Ugh, not all of Ben’s movies have been funny...not his fault.
To: Slapshot68
The ones that suck are the reason I haven’t seen any that are alleged to be funny. I’d rather watch his parents.

And couldn’t they have found a woman to play Dustin Hoffman’s role in “Tootsie”?

Wouldn’t it be funny if Obama actually turned out to be an out of work white actor in dark makeup, nose putty and a wig?

From what I’ve seen, his character (a white man) undergoes this transformation. It’s not like they couldn’t find an available black man for the role. And if they chose a black man, they would have had to put him in white face to start the film. Would those same folks have complained then?Sheesh.
