The co-owner and president of SpeeDee Oil Change was sentenced Tuesday to six months in jail and two years of home incarceration for aggravated second-degree battery after a February trial that included an allegation that Mandeville's mayor had used undue influence in helping his well-heeled acquaintance.

This LOSER should get 60 YEARS, not 6 MONTHS.

Eddie Price is more and more looking like a corrupt slimeball who has no business being in elected office. He needs to go back to working as a cashier in a convenience store, or what ever he did before he became mayor of Mandeville and the prime beneficiary of the Toys for Tots campaign. Read this article. A lousy piece of whale dung stomps on a woman's head in a bar for sissies and causes permanent damage to her and gets 6 MONTHS...Oh and he has to attend anger management classes and do 500 hours of community service and pay a $10,000 fine.

That woman could be your sister or your daughter...

I WILL REMEMBER THIS PANTY-WEARING JUDGE WHEN ELECTION TIME COMES....

I read this differently than you. It reads like the charges were reduced before the case reached court. If that's so then the judge would have to follow suit.

Let me amend my reply. The judge is likely just a boy in the boy’s club but it doesn’t sound like ant fix began with him.

Don’t think so. From the article:

“Garcia cited Copp’s medical issues — he has had heart surgeries that require him to use a strong blood thinner that can make him susceptible to injury — as reasons for the shorter jail sentence and the subsequent home incarceration.

He said, “Copp is a contributing member to our community and a good father” but that it is his actions’ “effects on the victim and her family that weighs so heavily on me.”

well if she has any male relatives, then the fact that the perp is on blood thinners should come in handy when playing tag with baseball bats.

If the guy is on blood thinners that make him subject to injury, you’d think he wouldn’t be so quick to start barroom brawls.

But I guess when your target is a woman, even he isn’t in danger.

I don’t go to that sissy bar, but if I had been in there and seen him stomp on that woman’s head with the heel of his cowboy boot, he would have left horizontal.

Copp maintained Tuesday that he threw Rome, 42, off her bar stool that night out of self-defense, because she had aggressively berated and wielded a lit cigarette at him.

You know, second-hand smoke is a deadly weapon... [/s]

I don't know why anyone in their right mind would go to Spee-Dee anyway - it's nothing but an overpriced rip-off place. Hope he winds up going out of business, and may Ms. Rome get a generous judgment in civil court.
