Marine charged with murder in Fallujah death [Sgt Ryan Weemer]

SAN DIEGO -- A Camp Pendleton Marine has been charged with murder and dereliction of duty for his alleged role three years ago in the killing of a detainee in Fallujah, Iraq.

Sgt. Ryan Weemer on Tuesday became the third person charged in the case that centers on allegations that a Marine squad shot a group of unarmed captives during heavy fighting in November 2004.

The case came to light when the 25-year-old Weemer applied for a job with the Secret Service. Investigators claim Weemer described the killing during a polygraph test that included a question about whether he had participated in a wrongful death.

See more on this story in Wednesday's North County Times.

There's background on the case here: Testimony Revealed: The Case for Murder in Fallujah.

Sgt Ryan Weemer was recalled to duty to be charged with murder. He is now faced with raising a substantial sum of money to pay for a legal defense. When a defense fund has been established, we'll post information about where to send donations for anyone who wishes to contribute.

I was hoping this would not happen. What a travesty this whole situation has been. For goodness sake, it was Fallujah, the ultimate battle in Iraq. NCIS agent Fox must be feeling quite “proud” about now.

Someone put up this sign near Camp Pendleton. Guess they'll need a bigger one...

This is the case with no dead bodies, an NCO who says it never happened, and a bunch of Pvts with conflicting memories. The NCO has been charged in civilian court with an unprovable crime supposedly committed during a firefight.

Weemer’s attorney, IIRC, is named Hackett, former democratic candidate for 2d congressional district in SW Ohio.

Any word on Nazario, the probationary cop charged in civilian court? I know Mattis dropped the original charges on Nelson; did that get resolved, or is that also hanging?

Just see this video from the BBC to see some of the hell our guys went through in Fallujah:

Yes. They'll need a much bigger sign. What is happening in the Marine Corps? They need to go after people that tried to do their best in a battle of all battles in Iraq? Fallujah? They keep this up, the Marine Corps will never be able to win a Fallujah, Guadalcanal, Tet Offensive, Iwo Jima ever again.

Gen Mattis reinstated the charges against Sgt Nelson back in early December.

Jose Nazario is awaiting his day in civilian court. The last news story about his plight was in the LA Weekly on Feb. 13.

Yes, Weemer’s attorney is Paul Hackett.

The Dem establishment didn’t back Hackett and his campaign went nowhere. Hackett was no fan of Murtha and that did not endear him to the Dem powers that be.

Unbelievable horse manure.
The Commander-in-Chief should immediately....
Oh, nevermind - - he’s the same guy who left the prosecution of the war in Iraq to the ACLU scumbags of JAG in the first place.

Thanks, Dubya. Nice job.

Have you ever seen a sign on a fence made with plastic cups?

Somebody out at Camp Pendleton needs to use red cups and
spell out DefendOurMarines.org

Any takers?
