Well, gosh, since version 1.0 is not absolutely perfect, we should scrap the entire thing. Every worthwhile technological advance sprung fully developed from its maker. No improvements have ever been necessary to any useful technology.

If everyone thought like you, we’d still be walking everywhere - even a horse has to be broken before you can ride it.

No, since version 1.0 is hideously dangerous, a person is a fool to buy or ride in one.

“even a horse has to be broken before you can ride it.”

And they’re riding hybrids before they’re ready. This is like trying to ride a rodeo bronc right out of the chute.

I think the point is not having them thrust upon us by guilt or government mandate. Early adopters of any technology can have their fun at their own expense, but I prefer to wait until it matures a bit.

It isn't that I think it's completely a bad idea. My premise is that if somebody is going to try to force a technology on the public, it ought to be at least a cleaner and safer alternative. It isn't yet. I'm willing to give the technology time to mature, but I won't buy into it when it may prove fatal.

Imagine being in a hybrid that was just mangled on the interstate. The rescue squad is on-scene but not approaching your car because (A) they have to figure out what make of hybrid it is; (B) they have to make sure the battery is not arcing all over the place; (C) they have to make sure the battery is intact, and (D) they have to get an appropriate hazmat response ready before they even come near you.

Meanwhile, you're dying.

Sorry, my friend- if the technology causes a delay on-scene that eats up a huge chunk of that "golden hour" just trying to figure out how to get past it to it owner, then it is not safe yet. That's all I'm saying.
