Barack Obama is preparing to deliver a major address Tuesday on race, politics and unifying the country after being hounded by questions about his relationship to a pastor whose sermons have been laced with anti-American invective.

In a speech whose religious significance could compare to one given in December by former GOP presidential hopeful and Mormon Mitt Romney, Obama may be forced to explain the philosophy of the 8,000-strong Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, where the Democratic presidential candidate has been a congregant for 20 years.

In announcing the morning address, to be delivered in Philadelphia, Obama would not say specifically what he will discuss, but suggested he wants to cool down the atmosphere after incendiary remarks by his pastor, retired Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., blanketed the airwaves over the past week.

This Jeremiah Wright and his sermons has upset and shaken me more than I can express. For the first time in my entire life, I am suddenly looking at people’s skin color, first. I didn’t realize how little attention I’ve paid to skin color, until I suddenly started seeing it, if that makes sense. Now I look around, at the store, in my neighborhood, my church and wonder...do these black people I see around me think of me the way Jeremiah Wright does? Am I hated and reviled for being a white woman by black people? Or just a couple..or a dozen..or all of them?

You speak for me as well. How can I trust any black that I don't know well not to be wearing a mask and seething with hatred for whites that he or she vents in church or among black friends?

Jeremiah Wright has set back race relations in America at least a generation, perhaps as much as 50 years.

Why is it okay that for the past week he said he was never present when these things were said and that had he been, he would have stood up and said something, yet today he admits he was present and did absolutely nothing for 20 years?

Obama's transformative and inspiring speech this morning brought tears to my eyes. I feel like this will go down in history not only as the turning point in the campaign, but in the whole of our country.

I hope so. That speech was amazing. I was listening on the radio via The Stephanie Miller Show. After the speech, a girl called in talking about how her whole life she wondered what it would be like to be there when MLK, JFK, or RFK spoke and now she knows. I was at my desk, trying not to cry.

I didn't not listen to the whole speech, but in essence the clips I've been hearing I think the MUSLIM did a BRILLIANT maneuver. Out smarted everyone by NOT addressing the controversy at hand and making it a "CAN WE ALL GET ALONG" speech. Every mediaWHORE station, except FOX fell for it, line hook and sinker. NOW, will the SHE-BEAST demand equal time? Or McRAT? This was simply a brilliant move by OSama's camp it worked beautifully! MOVE OVER SLICK WILLY! Hey Doug, know anybody that might cut segments from Rev. Wrights sermons, say the “G*D damn America” one or others and splice them in with Barack’s speech where he is still standing by Wright?
