More women accepting of porn, according to study
One News Now ^ | March 17, 2008 | Allie Martin

A new study shows young adult women are becoming more tolerant of pornography.

The research -- part of a larger study called "Project Ready" -- found that college-aged women could be more accepting of pornography than their fathers. According to the study, 65 percent of men, 48 percent of women, 36 percent of fathers, and 20 percent of mothers agreed that pornography was an acceptable way for someone to express their sexuality.

Pat Trueman of the Alliance Defense Fund says the results are not surprising. "... You've got a generation of people growing up embracing something that is not helpful, [and a society that] is treating women as though they're mere sexual objects," he criticizes.

Trueman also points out that porn gives young men a sense of "entitlement" when it comes to sexual relations in the dating realm. Consequently, he laments, "men don't know how to have a relationship -- [and] the women wanting a relationship seem to adopt the male point-of-view on pornography."

Researchers also found a correlation between the use of porn and participation in other risky behaviors, such as drug use, binge drinking, and promiscuous sexuality.

Soap operas are a close fit.

On initial read, this has the smell of the average “We don’t like X so we found a way to blame all the world’s troubles on it” study. I’ve seen these for video games, gambling, etc., and Richard Dawkins has probably done one on religion too.

The last statement seems to be more appropriate as the subject matter of this topic, than the “gender” aspect.

Funded by the porn industry, no doubt. There has to be a link in there somewhere.

Ever read some of the trashy novels that women have been reading for years? Talk about pornography.

Sad. We are not far from being the next Amsterdam and then Sodom and Gomorrah.

At least they are fiction, though. I’m not saying they are right. I don’t read them. I’m just saying that pornography uses real people as sexual objects on film.

The continued normalization of perversion. ............. Government approved at the highest level 1992-2000. Maybe even more so after 2008.

A friend of mine was caught looking at Internet porn by his wife. She was very upset, thinking she was without sin. Until the Lord of heaven convicted her regarding the soaps on TV that she consumed. Both recognized neither was without sin, they have reconciled.

Porn - in any form - is cancer.

Ummm, the films are fiction too. The only difference is one is visual, the other is mental. It’s all fantasy and fantasizing about sex. Those books are pretty graphic.

I just did something stupid, looking for a joke picture to post for you I googled images for ‘goat porn’.

I didn’t know that there really is such a thing, what a mess, it has been a while since I have made such a stupid, rookie, internet mistake.

Exactly. Men tend to be more visual in their lusts than women, but titillating the mind is just as unfaithful (if married) as titillating the eyes. We are all called to chastity.

It isn’t just “porn” porn. For some people it can be a magazine ad if it causes you to go down a road you know you shouldn’t...

I refer you back to Seinfeld:

“GLAMOUR???”

“I had a choice to make, either zip up, or run over and catch my mother from falling.”

“What did you do?”

“I zipped up.”

“But..”

“Well I couldn’t go over there the way I was...”

“I guess not.”
