Improved security and economic conditions have reversed Iraqis' spiral of despair, sharply improving hopes for the country's future. Yet deep problems remain in terms of security, living conditions, reconciliation and political progress alike.
Fifty-five percent of Iraqis say things in their own lives are going well, well up from 39 percent as recently as August. More, 62 percent, rate local security positively, up 19 points. And the number who expect conditions nationally to improve in the year ahead has doubled, to 46 percent in this new national poll by ABC News, the BBC, ARD German TV and the Japanese broadcaster NHK.

The Iraq situation is looking more and more optimistic.
Still need to do a bit more on the political front, and we can’t start ignoring the terror attempts or pull out before they are able to handle it themselves, nevertheless, right now it’s looking pretty good.
Iraqi lawmakers passed more meaningful legislation than our own congress in the last 15 months. The have a long way to go but they look as though they are on the fast track to success.
That makes for some great ads this election cycle.
- Democrats said the surge wouldn’t work. Show stats
- Democrats complain there has been no political progress. Jutixpose what they’ve done vs. what the Rats have done (raised taxes, corruption, etc.).
Close: It seems the Democrats are batting 1000 about being wrong and are being overshadowed by the Iraqi government. Even Al Gore agrees that last thing we need this election cycle is more hot air, and we all agree we don’t need more broken promises.
Vote Republican in 2008.
