Obama’s Right; Words Do Matter, and Those of Jeremiah Wright are Troubling
North Star Writers Group ^ | March 17, 2008 | Gregory D. Lee

Last month, Barack Obama defended a speech he gave, one that resulted in an accusation by Hillary Clinton that he had plagiarized an almost identical speech previously given by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick. The thrust of the speech, in which he repeated famous phrases of speeches given by Presidents John F. Kennedy and Franklin Roosevelt, Rev. Martin Luther King and others, was that words do matter. And he is absolutely correct.

Obama was baptized in Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s Chicago-based Trinity United Church of Christ. Wright has been Obama’s and his wife’s minister and spiritual advisor for 20 years. He has said he has been inspired by his sermons. Recently, Rev. Wright sold recordings of past sermons to media outlets for their review. In them he asserts that America is responsible for AIDS and should be damned for state-sponsored terrorism against Palestine. He says that rich white people do all they can to oppress blacks to keep them from achieving. Which one of those beliefs inspired Obama to run for president?

Why hasn’t anybody asked the Kennedy Clan what they think of their candidate’s religious views... Old Teddy is the high priest of “HATE” crimes legislation.

Supporters of B. Hussein Obama state that this pastor has had NOT influenced on him and he should not be held accountable for what this Pastor has preached in the past.

Besides Obama saying he was “never around” to hear the incendiary sermons of hate preached by Wright — does anyone believe any of them???

7.2 trillion of the white mans oppressive entitlement dollars since 1964. And, this is what we have to show for it. Do them a favor and stop entitlement spending so they can claim responsibility for their own achievements.

Not a word of it. You don't belong to the same church for 20 years and have a close relationship with someone and not hear them speak this kind of stuff before. Obamie knew all about it, and I'm quite sure, agrees with every word. He just knows he has to pretend to 'repudiate' it if he hopes to become Prez.

If “WORDS REALLY DO MATTER”—Senator B. (whose middle name must NEVER be spoken) Obama should talk to his wife about HER outrageous, angry, bitter, anti-American comments.

If Obama was this devote Christian, how could he not been exposed to his spiritual leaders rhetoric at some point during the last 20 years?

Perhaps he was not around when she said those words and is shocked that those are her views.

Jimmy Carter comes to mind. I can’t fault him for being the worst president in my lifetime because at least his heart was in the right place.

LOL! His heart is in the right place, inside his ribcage. His head is in the frikken Twilight Zone!

Either that--or maybe he was on one of his admitted 'cocaine' trips.

This is a major blow to Obama - and he has no one to blame but himself.

He was seen by many on the left as signaling the end of the racial divide, but instead has just poured salt in the wound. It’s just possible that there will be some “OJ verdict” like racial divide, where many blacks see the remarks as much less objectionable than many whites. I really hope I’m wrong about that!

Also, the only two explanations for Obama’s long and close relationship with this man are either (1) that Obama was very naive and never found out about this man’s beliefs or (2) the much, much more likely explanation that Obama knew full well and is trying to fool the electorate with lies and doubletalk.

I really hate the idea of the Clintons remaining in public life for one second longer, but if anything could tip the scales in her favor this could. I think it’s still a longshot, but I would not be 100% surprised.

Either way, the Democrats come out very divided in the fall.

It’s not only the Republicans that have problems with their nominee, clearly.

The words of Wright are troubling?

Now isn't that a quaint way of putting it.

We've got a hyphenated black man running for potus, supported by a white hating, America hating , make believe Christian, and Wright's words are troubling?

Well ... let's see just how troubling they are to Mr. & Mrs. unhyphenated America.

I agree!

If you want to further DIVIDE this country along racial lines,,,,

a bigot like Senator B. (whose middle name must NEVER be spoken) Obama and his bitter, angry, nasty anti-American wife,,,,

ARE THE RIGHT COUPLE AT THE RIGHT TIME!!

Yup, I think they blew it. Again, he may still get the nomination but he’s turned off a lot of people.

Now it’s not just Mrs’ Clinton who is polarizing.

Mrs. Obama’s views are certainly influenced by her pastor’s anti-white rhetoric. This is seen in her saying that she was never proud of this country (God damn this country, by the way) until it looked like an African American man would become the Democrat nominee....

either (1) that Obama was very naive and never found out about this man’s beliefs or

This is just as damning and I hope Hannity, Rush et al pick up on it - let the American public ask themselves: "Well, if he were unaware of what his pastor, friend and mentor, who married him and his wife and baptizes his kids, whose preaching was the springboard for his book, and in whose church he was a regular attendee for 20 years "didn't know" - if he is that clueless about what is going on under his nose for 20 years - how can we trust him to run the country and make all the decisions to keep us safe and the country sound?"
