The Iraq Veterans Against the War held their Winter Soldier II event this weekend at the National Labor College. The implied intent of this event was to give testimony to a myriad of claimed attrocites committed by the US military in Iraq. Not surprisingly, it fell far short of its intent. For lefties expecting proof of the dishonor and heinous behavior of the US military, surely Monday morning recaps will bring little more than disappointment and frustration. For those who feared the smearing of our military a la John Kerry and the original Winter Soldiers, solace can be found.

The bus [carrying wounded soldiers back to Walter Reed] stopped part way up the drive and a young soldier on crutches, missing half of his leg but none of his pride or enthusiasm, came to the crowd [of anti-IVAR counter protesters] with his beautiful wife to thank them. He told them, The guys on the bus asked me to come out and thank every one of you for being here. You mean so much to us. My friend wanted to come out but he is a triple-amputee and couldnt easily get off the bus. When we pulled around the corner and saw all of you, it was the first time I have really seen him smile since he came back. Thank you.
Hard not to have a lump in your throat after that...quite the counter to the words he had for the pinkos...none of which were printable....
Ping to a great article on the Winter Weasels and the patriots who opposed them last weekend.
BTTT
Where is the after action report for Friday night??!!
I don't know whether we can prevent the IVAW from putting their ramblings in the Congressional Record. That would involve finding a number of Congressmen willing to publicly oppose unsubstantiated slander against the troops. They've been in short supply to date...
The real atrocities happen every day that Nancy Pelousy, and dirty Harry Ried’s congress meets to destroy this country.
All over the internet, posted on sites containing articles about this past weekend, and emails.
Yes yes I know...have seen some of the GOE stuff, but had trouble finding trooprally’s usual report...I admit it could be my general duhness today...
Outstanding article. Thank you for all that you are doing.
Semper Fi,

Thanks for the ping. Nice work!
After reading the article, I made my to the sniper website.
First on their website is a youtube video of Matt Palevsky—son of Max, I assume?

I guess this is the second generation, red-diaper anti-war clan.
I believe that they are sometimes reported the next Friday, when the new one is announced here at FR.
Last week it was posted on the very next day, but I think that the people that usually post the thread have been real busy with the events this weekend. I'm sure someone is working on posting a detailed report of the very well attended WR Friday nite rally.
Great writeup Katie.
Thanks for the ping.
God Bless the Eagles.
Possibly, but I don't find any evidence of that on a quick search.
For longtime activist Jodie Evans, 52, co-founder of the national women for peace organization Code Pink, the choice rarely came down to deciding between her activism and her kids. She just incorporated her two sons in her work, whether they liked it or not.I was pregnant with them in activism, says Evans, I nursed them in activism, and I dragged them here, there and everywhere for activism. They lived their lives on the floors of campaign offices. Sometimes they would complain, but now theyre very proud of the work I do. And I think it was good for them. They learned a lot of skills and it made them very independent. People always commented on how mature they were.
Evans proceeds to proudly divulge an example that some parents might be less quick to share: When her son, Jan Krajewski, now a 26-year-old artist, was 10, Evans says, she was going to a march for choice in Washington DC, and he really wanted to go too.
We took a red-eye and the plane was full of parents with girls his age, says Evans, and the kids stayed up all night while the adults slept. So when we arrived in Washington, Jan was just dead tired, in no condition to march. I took him into the National Gallery and put him to sleep on a bench and told him Id be back after the march. So I did the march without him, and when I got back, he was still asleep!
Evans says her younger son, Matthew Palevsky, now 21, has always been an activist. When he was 12, he organized Santa Monica private school students to visit the City Council to lobby for gun control; he spent time in Scotland working on drug policy and was part of the effort to legalize medical marijuana in Rhode Island, where hes now working for a Democratic congressional candidate. Evans is thrilled that Matthew has continued her legacy.
As a far leftist, [Jodie] Evans has found a comfortable political home in the Democratic Party. Indeed she was a key fundraiser for her longtime friend and political ally, former California governor Gray Davis. Evans ex-husband, Westside financier Max Palevsky, actually appointed Davis to his first political job as the fundraiser for Tom Bradleys 1973 Los Angeles mayoral campaign. Shortly thereafter, Evans and Davis worked closely together during the latters stint as chief of staff to then-governor Jerry Brown.
Nice catch... I’ll pass it along.
