In the state, it's politics unusual for Clinton, Obama By Mike Wereschagin TRIBUNE-REVIEW Sunday, March 16, 2008

Patrons pack the bar at Rookie's Restaurant and Sports Pub in Allentown, but their conversations steer clear of the political battle being waged for their votes.

Bartender Nick Goldsmith keeps an ear on what is said inside this Lehigh County joint. If one of the candidates' names comes up, he knows he might have to jump in and shut down an argument before it becomes a fight.

Again.

"I don't usually discourage it until it gets out of hand," says Goldsmith, 29. That's happened a few times already. "Election nights, especially. They even fight about the news channels. People are complaining, 'You've got Fox News on!' or 'You've got CNN on!' I have to have CNN on one (TV) and Fox on the other."

It's likely to get worse.

I don't know how anyone could feel comfortable with what they are seeing with the Democrats.

If they don't like when you hold your primary, they disenfranchise you - your vote doesn't count.

One man one vote - yeah sure, but if you don't attend your precinct caucus, and vote again, your vote doesn't count.

If the party big-wigs (super delegates) don't like the person selected by the electorate, they select someone else; more disenfranchisement.

It's not wonder that the Democrats are always claiming they have somehow been disenfranchised. They are masters at it.

I simply cannot see how they could possibly run anything as large as the United States. After seeing what they do to the party faithfuls, imagine how they will treat those who don't vote for them.

My wife, who’s a registered Independent, has been getting phone calls from Obama all weekend. Needless to say, she hangs up on them. They haven’t bothered to ask for me when they call. :)

Rendell won't have to.

The black mayor of Philadelphia, Mayor Nutter, is a strong hillary supporter.

Philly is going to vote 107% for hillary.

This is the first election where I don't think being in one party or another matters," says Kevin O'Donnell, 48, a Republican and McCain supporter from Huntington Valley, north of Philadelphia.

Says it all

Perhaps, but with the black mayor supporting hillary all the way, this will be very interesting indeed.
Trouble perhaps, but a big win for hillary.

They ain't that stupid

Re: “Don’t laugh”, I’ll be laughing as I vote. Registered Dem as a joke in my youth and never bothered to switch it ‘cause Pennsylvania’s primary is so late. Hillary’s already got a big lead here in our shrinking, decaying, shuttered-factory, Blue state, the one with the nation’s second oldest average age, so I guess I’ll be a proud Rush-Limbaugh-style Obama voter.
