Obama Battles Through Bad Week
ABC News ^ | March 15, 2008 | JOHN COCHRAN

Posted on 03/15/2008 3:13:20 PM PDT by Berlin_Freeper

What should have been a good week for Barack Obama has turned into one of the worst of his campaign.

Despite winning the Mississippi primary and increasing his lead in convention delegates, he was thrown off stride by dealings with a former fundraiser and inflammatory remarks by his one-time pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, that are getting wide play on YouTube and TV including "Not God Bless America. God Damn America."

Obama worked hard Friday night on cable television news programs, trying to distance himself from Wright's remarks. On Fox he called them "completely unacceptable and inexcusable."

Today, campaigning in Plainfield, Ind., he said Wright never made incendiary statements in his presence.

"But if all I knew was those statements that I saw on television, I would be shocked," he said.

ABC News political consultant Mark Halperin, also of Time Magazine, said Obama had to go on the offensive, considering how hard his campaign was hit by the negative coverage.

"It was possible that this controversy was going to engulf Obama's candidacy," Halperin said. "He had to speak out after what had been several days of very toxic and very dangerous coverage for his candidacy." Obama also acknowledged in Chicago newspaper interviews that indicted businessman Tony Rezko raised more money for his past political campaigns than was previously known. Rezko had also advised him on buying a home.

"I have actually heard bigtime talking heads on all the MSM including Fox say they did not know this."

Cuz they don't read FR....And were too dam lazy to google the church and read its "Statement."........As many of us did after he announced his run...

The fact is that Obama remained in this anti-American and racist church for TWENTY YEARS. It takes a pretty dense person to believe Obama did not know what his pastor was teaching. This is a very dangerous issue and, unless Obama is just a Christmas- and Easter-day church attendee, his explanations smell to high heaven. Literally.

it was their deep down hatred for Hillary that made them decide to vote for Obama.

Heh.

Well that's another dimension to the fun of it all. Cause I'm sure you're right. They were ready as all get out to jump on the love-obama-yo-mama and his lovely wife bandwagon and most likely it was because they hated Hillary. I can dig it.

So now we got Obama going down like the Titanic only faster and those politicos who endorsed this guy will not only have to find proper wiggle words to get them out of this but, heh, now Hillary's REALLy going to be pissed.

Heh. I write fiction and I couldn't have dreamt up this story if I tried.

No. This is only something a chronic victim would understand. The problems in “the hood” have almost nothing to do with white racism, but everything to do with a great deal of black irreponsibility to wit, unwed mothers, crime, disrepect for learning, drugs, drunkeness, etc. This has nothing do to with skin color, either (before some of you condemn me for racism). Many Appalachian whites have the same set of problems and for the same reasons.

I do not think Barry is a hater like his pastor. He is a hoper, hoping beyond hope that a black man with a Muslim name who has ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING in his life can get VERY LUCKY and be elected the leader of the free world. It is an open question who gets the Democrat nomination a do nothing like Barry or Hillary who DID the crime while Webb did the time.

LOL! Look at the receiver in Obambi’s hand, no wonder he can't connect with "Pockiston"!

Despite winning the Mississippi primary and increasing his lead in convention delegates, he was thrown off stride ...

I wonder.
I really don't see much except media blather, and the small yet salient note that Obama is still widening his delegate lead.
The MSM is ponderously, but surely, turning (mostly) to the pro hillary slant on everything news.

He is going to win NC big and split Pennsylvania as expected so little has changed that I see except more media blather.

Nobody on the right was ever going to vote for this dangerous fool, and few of his avid, if not rabid, supporters are deserting him in the few remaining primary states.

The only reason for all of this that I see at this time is to bolster the case to be made at the convention that he is unelectable in the general election.

Interesting times ahead, and I hope you all have bought popcorn futures.

It is bizarre! It's embarrassing that the US has qualified people, but got stuck with the runts of the litter! I don't feel like I had a choice in the matter, which rankles me to no end.

When will somebody DEMAND that Obama answer these questions: 1) Do you hold America responsible for the attacks of 9/11? 2) Do you believe, as pastor Wright believes, that America has murdered millions around the world? 3) Do you believe that America is a white racist state? 4) Do you believe that black racist preachers like Jeremiah Wright are being kept from leaving America? And, if not, have you suggested that he leave? 5) Do you believe that your wife has been denied a first class education and a first class position? 6) Do you believe that “God Bless America” cannot be sung by a black person? 7) Do you believe that God should damn America? 8) Do you believe that an American flag pin on your lapel would alienate your America-hating supporters? 9) Do you believe that any faithful member of Jeremiah Wright’s church does not believe his repeated messages of hate for America? 10) Do you believe that any man who counts him a close friend can still be an American patriot?
And, if so, how? 11) Do you believe that your slick moves and smooth words will carry you to the White House, then, to carry-out Jeremiah Wright’s wish to damn America?

what the hell planet am I own where he can seriously run for president here?

The very same planet where our very own "public servants", aka "elected representatives", are trying to get us defeated by a relentless, merciless enemy.

That's the planet, and it's an ugly one....

ABC News political consultant Mark Halperin, also of Time Magazine, said Obama had to go on the offensive, considering how hard his campaign was hit by the negative coverage.

True conviction will outweigh the negative coverage.

Obama will offend the USA and our way of life without a scare created, right?

I know Newsmax has some very damaging stuff coming out, maybe Monday, in time for a fresh news cycle. Hannity also hinted yesterday that more, much more about “Rev.” Wright was in the queue.

“...won’t put hand over heart for flag ...”

if the rest of your list is as accurate as this, you are not worth the time of day.

That seems to me to be the smoking gun. Even just a transcript, without the pointing, nails that Obama did hear this stuff.
