Hillary Clinton is not stupid. She knows perfectly well that she’s not going to catch up with Barack Obama when it comes to delegates or the overall popular vote in the primaries, and that her lead with superdelegates is not at all secure. She’s staying in the race to see what happens — to lengthen it so that there is a chance Obama will implode for some reason or combination of reasons, leaving her to pick up the pieces.
When Hillary and her people talk about Obama’s lack of experience, they are not just talking about foreign policy and Washington voting. They are, implicitly, talking about his lack of experience with a hostile media. He has never been subjected to the withering examination of a reportorial or even punditorial pack — not in his service in the Illinois state senate, not in his 2004 Senate race, and not even when it came to his well-reviewed books. One never, ever knows how someone will hold up under such circumstances, or how quickly a reputation can be damaged.
Obviously, the repulsive statements of Obama’s pastor, Jeremiah Wright, about how 9/11 represented “the chickens coming home to roost” for “White America” might represent a turning point — and one that would not have happened to benefit Hillary had she seen supposed reason and bowed out when it was clear she couldn’t win on points. Obama is fortunate this week to have had a ju-jitsu victory on the subject of race, parrying a remark about him by Geraldine Ferraro into a “nobody-is-allowed-to-raise-the-subject of-how-I-might-have-benefited-from-my-blackness” moment. That, and the Spitzer scandal, have kept the Wright story from getting full purchase in the media. But it’s out now, and even the extreme queasiness of the press in dealing with material that might be harmful to Obama can’t last forever.
And forever is a long time. The Pennsylvania primary is more than a month away. Maybe more will turn up to cause the superdelegates such concern about November that they will line up behind her foursquare. Politics is a dynamic business.
Also, keep in mind that this article was published yesterday, but before Obama made the round on the nightly talk shows.
The trick the Clintons are working on is...how to damage Barry enough to get Hillary the nomination, but not enough to keep him from being VP?

Who thinks anyone who wants Obama for President is actually going to settle for him being third banana; remember, if Hillary is President, Bill Clinton will also be in the White House again. And surely he will have more power than Obama, even if it is indirect power.
I hardly doubt Obama's base will be energized by him being Hillary's VP. Obama's base will just sit home on election day and not vote. Besides, a lot of Obama fanatics hate Hillary anyway.
I think if Hillary wins the nomination, you may see someone like a Bill Richardson or Evan Bayh as her VP.

HRC is staying in the race because BHO is an empty suit who will likely get slammed in the Fall. She can still win the Pop. Vote and convince the Supers, but if she loses the nom, damage BHO enough for Mccain to win.

I watched Major Garrett’s interview with Barry. He is absolutely unwilling to reject this Rev. Wright totally. The phrase, “some statements” is as far as Barry is willing to go. I think this is because Barry does not want to alienate a large segment of black voters who, actively or passively, agree with these statements. Whatever BS the MSM is trying to throw about this election, it is clearly becoming about race and, far more telling, the black mindset. Mrs. Barry is proof positive that the poison spewing by Wright in that church has taken hold and flourished.

Agreed. Richardson as VP would be seen by blacks as a slap in the face. She’s got to have Obama, just as Kennedy had to have Johnson though they HATED each other.

Exactly.
First, she wants the nomination this year but if she can’t get it now she’ll do ANYTHING to prevent Obama from winning in November because if he does her chances at the presidency are effectively over.
Should she not get the nomination, she’ll return to the Senate and vie to be majority leader or even better, run for the NY governor’s office in 2010 which would add much-needed executive experience to her resume and would set her up nicely to again be the presumptive Democrat candidate for president in 2012.
Regardless of how this Democrat drama plays out, McCain looks to be sitting in the catbird’s seat in 2008, with Hillary ready to help him win if she can’t get the nomination.
“Experience” indeed means different things to liberals than to us. The empowerment by length of stay or by pure skill-less criminal brutality is something Obama does not know about. Hillary is capable of formulating a media hitman hit on him... or even a real murder. I do not pass that by her. She is capable of instating legislation making him a PC target to be destroyed via any sort of pogrom she can foment in her head, from the hate-men to hate the N-man crowd that black women themselves adore engaging into.
That being said, by Bill’s calling himself the first black president, and her calling herself pro-black, the Clintons have again herded themselves in a PC corner of their own. Obama will continue his racial attacks by proxy and she will not be able to defend against them. Hate-crime law also of Clinton creation also forbids them to attack his femininity and his islamic religious background. The feminists have invited the barbarians by ignoring their murders abroad and cannot keep the good men here no more.
If it were not so tragic, it be fun to watch. Obama will be favored because foreign intelligence and mafyas are going to make sure they grease the right hands for the final destruction of the US, from within and thus legalized from without. Hillary cannot speak of it because she also got foreign contributions, although Obama being a foreigner himself has the most eggregious of them all.
Mark my words, he is a manchurian candidate if there ever was one.
Pelosi has stated that there will be no “dream ticket” of Hilde and Che’, they just don’t mesh very well apparently.
