I always wondered who was charging for these “carbon credits” and what they were doing with that money.

We may see, in the near future, both an ex-vice-president, and Nobel prize winner get a long jail term for fraud.

Sweet!

I’ll sign up if it’s a class action lawsuit.

What makes it work, as I understand it, is that developed countries like Germany charge businesses a pollution tax based on their emissions.

To reduce these taxes, the German company buys the credit for pollution-reducing equipment installed in a developing country, like China or India.

The pollution-reducing equipment installed overseas makes a big difference in the foreign plant's emissions, and the amount of this reduction is applied against the German company's emissions in calculating the German tax.

I believe that the problem is in the pollution tax itself, which is set according to government fiat. I know that in a related area of solar panels, for example, the German government forces the utility companies to buy back electricity from households generating power from solar panels, at a price far above what the utility company itself charges for electricity. So these pollution laws tend to be imperfect substitutes for the market economy and thus overall reduce growth and often don't even reduce pollution, which the laws incentivize in other forms.

How ironic:

The guy who really did invent the Weather Channel vs. the guy who thinks he invented the internet.

Can I assume this guy has the $$$ and clout to get it done?

Doesn't matter.
If enough of us pledge $5 a month to sustain the litigation, we could break the idiot Gore, sooner or later, and leave him no money for a defense.

He can go on to selling used cars...

Quick thoughts -

In a fraud suit would they have to prove that Gore knew it was a fraud for him to be found guilty?
Also, I don't think they could find any jury that would unanimously vote that anthropogenic climate change is wrong or a fraud--there would always be people on the jury who would say "I don't know who to believe, it's soooo confusing!" and vote not guilty. Then, of course, the media would trumpet "Global warming deniers lose case!!" and we would be worse off than before.

As with Obama's middle name, the speech Nazis have made a body of informed skeptical information a forbidden utterance.

It's not necessary to discuss Barack's (Buraq's) middle name. His first name is damaging enough: Buraq = Bearer of mohamed...

Read today's Wall Street Journal, there is a Front page article on Richard Sandor, an economist that has made $260 Million from this scam..

Will someone please check the records before Al came up with this scam. I’m sure there were quite a few GREEN investments before the big push on global warming.
Al “the scam man” Gore. “think of me every time you screw in an energy efficient light bulb because I just did the same to you”!

A google news search reveals no one other than Fox News in running this story. If fact, I found articles in the blogosphere marginalizing and ridiculing John Coleman.

The MSM is perpetuating this fraud.

There’s no reason we couldn’t. If proven, pretty much the entire population of the world has a claim.

To reduce these taxes, the German company buys the credit for pollution-reducing equipment installed in a developing country, like China or India.

That means the "developing country" gets a subsidy from Germany, which helps transfer wealth and comparative advantage to the D.C. And of course who really monitors how the Chinese actually spend the subsidy, considering that no one is able to monitor and control the toxic chemicals in Chinese export food, toys, etc.?

You have to wonder if Chinese intelligence isn't helping finance "global warming" propaganda.

I knew John when he was at WLS TV doing weather. He was also doing weather on the Morning show on the ABC TV Network.

He was a great guy. I don't think he has money problems. His wife was an heir to the McDonald-Douglas fortune.

John's brother in law was a good friend of mine and we had dinner together in Chicago once. John decided to take our wives and us to dinner. He asked where we would like to eat. I suggested a very nice place and asked if we needed reservations to get in. John looked at me strangely and just said, lets go.

When we walked in the Matre'd looked up and said.."Oh Yes Mr Coleman ..Good to see you sir... your table will be ready in just a second, Sir." less than a minute later we were seated.
