The brunette at the center of Eliot Spitzer's spectacular downfall is a 22-year-old runaway from the Jersey Shore who came to the city to be a singer and ended up toppling a governor.
The stunning revelation came on a day of high drama that began with Spitzer's resignation and ended with the confession from sexy Ashley Alexandra Dupré, who is just four years older than Spitzer's eldest daughter.
"I just don't want to be thought of as a monster," said Dupré, who was born Ashley Youmans and raised in Belmar, N.J.

That’s quite a stretch. Nowhere did I absolve her of responsibility for her choices. Only saying that evil represents itself in many ways that may have influenced her.
Additionally, 22 year olds sometimes show poor judgement. As do 62 year olds in some cases.
So should we punish the 62-year-old as a criminal for “poor judgment” in the line of business in which they choose to engage?

Which makes me suspicious of that $80,000 figure being tossed around. At $5000 a pop that'd mean he only had 16 visits in over 6 years. Seems a bit low. Wouldn't surprise me if the overall figure was closer to $800,000.

I'd submit that Kristen was far, FAR less "victimized" than a gal who gets picked up in a bar, bought a few drinks and dinner, laid, and then unceremoniously dumped the next morning.
As for "poor judgment" - a big difference between the poor judgment of a 62-year-old giving their credit card number to a huckster over the phone - or the poor judgment of the gal in the bar - and the "poor judgment" of a 22-year-old engaging in an extremely lucrative business transaction in a jurisdiction where it's illegal is that one bears criminal charges and the others don't.

You're confusing prostitution, the symptom, with the much more expansive disease of the cheapening and debasing of sexual relations. The "hedonism" is not on my part, it's on the part of people who engage in casual, meaningless sex regardless of whether or not they're fairly compensated for it.
The pimps take half the earnings because of the ban - because the women can't organize or sue for a better compensation schedule because they face criminal charges if they try it.
What would result in better protection for women? Licensing, regulation, and avenues of legal recourse, or continuing the mafia-controlled, pimp-managed status quo?
