When Hollywood's movie-makers and docu-dramatists get their hands on American history, accuracy, reality and truth often are tortured beyond recognition. But starting at 8 p.m. Sunday, March 16, HBO Films will be delivering the seven-part, nine-hour mini-series "John Adams."

When I saw him in ‘Sideways’ I knew he had a future...Still do not understand why he stole money from his mother.

Well, he was still in high school at the time, so he only did one day on the set. (couldn’t afford to miss more school). But he had a great time with the experience and ~should be~ visible in a couple of scenes with Paul Giamati.
From what I’ve heard/read, it’s a good production.
Tom Hanks was here for a special preview event this past weekend (my son wasn’t on the invite list).

David M’s books were excellent. Let’s hope the series lives up to the class.

Did he wear tennis shoes like they did in Spartacus?
To: purpleraine
IIRC he was in some pretty uncomfortable shoes.

One is that our obligations to our country are unending and that we are a government, as Adams said, of laws and not of men; that we believe in equal justice before the law; and that honesty, integrity, character, one's word, all matter immensely in the long run. I wish that this was taught to students in our public schools. If it was the Liberals would have a little more trouble indoctrinating the children.
Whatever happened to the Character Counts add campaign by the way?

Love to see it but, I will not pay for HBO to be in our house.
To: Pharmboy
Thanks for the ping. I'll be waiting with the DVD tuned up and ready --- if my kids will just teach me how to do it. ;~))
If the movie is half as good as McCullough's "John Adams', it will be more than worthwhile.
That was the most compelling, well written biography I have ever read. I don't know how he did it, but he did. What a treasure McCullough is (and John Adams was.)
"Thanks again pharmboy.

Love to see it but, I will not pay for HBO to be in our house. I understand, but this will be your loss, not theirs.
See if you can find someone who can tape it for you.
