Like an honor guard escorting him to his lectern, nine retired generals and admirals entered a room Wednesday with military precision to help Sen. Barack Obama counter suggestions that he isn't ready to be commander-in-chief.
Nine American flags, as well as one for each branch of the military, stood behind the Illinois Democrat as he strode along a red carpet into a ballroom at the Chicago History Museum.
Calling him "no shock Barack" and "no drama Obama," retired Air Force Gen. Merrill McPeak said the first-term senator has the temperament to lead the military.
Obama, meanwhile, repeated his criticism of Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York and presumptive Republic nominee Sen. John McCain of Arizona for their support of an invasion of Iraq.
"After years of being told that Democrats have to talk, act and vote like John McCain to pass some commander-in-chief test, how many times do we have to learn that tough talk is not a substitute for sound judgment?" Obama asked.

Absolutely nothing, like 95% of the inanities that flow from his lips.
That's because they are all old soviet retirees.
Nothing like being associated with a code pink punk like Hussein Osama.
As a former Air Force office and pilot myself - please allow me to add that McPeak is universally hated as the worst Air Force Chief of Staff in history.
I am not making this up. You all can Google this.
McPeak isn’t a sell-out. He never had squat for judgment anyways. I’ve spent years trying to figure out how to blame him on the Army or Navy...
Very good.......LOL!
I think he’s saying that Bush can talk tough but it doesn’t mean he has sound judgement ...and he’s trying to draw McCain into this too.
Obama says that we live in the greatest country....
And he is leading the efforts to change that!
I don’t see how he can mean that. President Bush has extraordinary judgement. He always says what he means and means what the says.
“retired Air Force Gen. Merrill McPeak”
Thank God, he IS retired. He nearly ruined the USAF, and NOW he wants to ruin the USA!Can’t he just spend his time redesigning the USAF uniform? Please!
Well Obama is talking to his audience..the Code Pink types and of course they think that Bush has tough talk and bad judgment.
McPeak was a big supporter of traitor John Kerry. Rumors were that he would get the SecDef job if Kerry would have been elected.
One time in the 1973-74 time frame I was walking through the Quad Cities Airport in uniform and a woman asked me where the American Airlines ticket counter was. She became embarrassed when I told her I was an Air Force officer and not an airline employee. :-)
Do I have to read the article to get the Rollcall of Shame?
Sigh.
Nine flags and he probably saluted none of them.
McPeak is probably still hoping to get the SECDEF job in the next Rat administration.
All the more reason to vote against Obama/Hildy.
TY for the names.
not a warrior among ‘em...
