AG Cox: Kilpatrick should quit for lying, using N-word 3/12/2008, 7:47 p.m. EDT The Associated Press

DETROIT (AP) — Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox says Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is a liar and a race-baiter who's unfit for office and should resign for the community's good.

Cox tells WJR-AM's Lloyd Jackson he was shocked by the black leader's televised use of the N-word and his appeal for support while attacking opponents as racist.

Kilpatrick's statements came at the end of Tuesday's State of the City address.

Cox, who is white, calls it "race baiting" on par with segregationists David Duke and George Wallace.

Cox says Kilpatrick clearly perjured himself while testifying he didn't have an affair with his chief of staff. It's under criminal investigation.

A Kilpatrick spokesman says the mayor used the slur to show how hurtful it can be.

The silence from our do-nothing Libdem governor is deafening...maybe she's thinking of a way to raise taxes again.

That’s the problem with being a panderer and not conducting yourself on the basis of true convictions. Sometimes it becomes impossible to pander to everyone whose support you’re soliciting.

Blow it out your kazoo Cox. You had the oppurtunity years ago to bust King Kwame on assault, conspiracy to commit murder, private use of public funds, violating the whistleblower act, and a bunch of other goodies..and you chose to do nothing.

I don’t understand, isn’t Kwame immunized from this?

Which is why I'm starting to wonder if Cox and Kwame made a backroom deal. This is getting sicker and sicker every day.

Race may be the only thing Kilpatrick has going for him. So he uses it.

I think Spitzer set a precedent. He resigned and Kwame refuses to. Spitzer didn't go on attack and blame the case against him on anti-Semitism.

I hope it's just the excess of bad news coming out of Michigan that's making me paranoid, but I sincerely hope that 2008 doesn't turn out to be a repeat of 1968.

That’s not going to happen. There are quite a few blacks very, very pissed off about this.

Cox is a typical pol himself, so any words from him regarding morals and honor are hollow and self serving. Personal experience with the jerk brings to mind Nifong, as well as Shitzer.

If the people of Michigan had a governor that got it, they might stand a chance of cleaning up the mess that is Detroit.

They have not, and they do not. You elected her, and you elected him. Enjoy!

From what I've read of the accounts of the investigations: Private meeting between Cox and Kwame that excluded the investigators--> Cox kills the State Police investigation... its awful hard to avoid that perception.

Cox has never been more than a pandering opportunistic sell out. Sort of a Spitzer with several times less abrasion.

I heard the recording of Kilpatrick saying he has been called that word many times in the last 30 days. Who supposedly has been calling him that? White Republican racists I suppose.

You have to think Kwame broke the laws of the state of Michigan. Why doesn't Cox prosecute him? Does Kwame have something on Cox?

Kwame is a scum bag and should be prosecuted for perjury.

As for him using the ‘N’ word, I find no reason to get upset when it is used by a black man. If the black community wants to take him to task for the usage, I say go for it. Kwame is the one insulting them.

Dang! Who had March 12th in the “How long will it take Bling-Bling to blame Whitey for all of this” pool. I had it pegged for back on MLK Day.
