DALLAS — A woman threw her two young children from a freeway overpass during Wednesday's morning rush before leaping off herself, police said, and all three somehow survived the 22-foot fall into traffic.
Khandi Busby, 27, and her sons, ages 8 and 6, were in stable condition at Dallas hospitals, said Sr. Cpl. Kevin Janse, a police spokesman. They are well enough to speak with investigators, police said.
All three landed on concrete in the far left lane of westbound Interstate 30 around 6:30 a.m., when commuters from Dallas' east suburbs are heading downtown, Dallas police spokesman Sgt. Gil Cerda said.
"It was really miraculous that we didn't have some fatalities with this incident," Cerda said. "At this particular time, there is very heavy traffic and it is fast moving."
Police believe Busby and the 8-year-old were struck by cars, which managed to avoid the younger brother. There were no car accidents on the interstate below, Cerda said.
Janse said the mother and her sons were in a vehicle with her father when they stopped for gas. The woman took her two sons to the overpass while her father was paying for gas, Janse said.
Her father had to make a U-turn to follow her in the car, but by the time he drove up Busby "had picked up the kids and thrown herself over," Cerda said.
"She was not fleeing for her safety," Cerda said. "She just threw them over and decided to throw herself over."
Busby could face two charges of attempted capital murder, Cerda said.
"I don't really have an explanation" for how the three survived, Janse said.

Poor kids, indeed. We should pray for them, the mom, and the entire family.
I do have questions. How did she manage to throw two kids that age? Why didn’t one of the kids run?
Her father didn’t realize that she was acting strangely?
Wonder which hospital the kids are in? Would like to send them something.

If they had been in a car at the time. They would have been in-restraints and prisoners in their state-mandated car seats.
This womyn can get away with this, by doing one of two things:
1. State it was a post-partum abortion and claim victim status;
2. Recite the Shahaadah, and claim it was an honor killing in accordance with her religion.
Either way, scot free.
