03/11/2008 John Kerry Statement on Admiral Fallon's Resignation
"The looming question now is whether the cost of Admiral Fallon's candor was his job."
WASHINGTON, DC Senator John Kerry made the following statement today about the retirement of Admiral William Fallon. Kerry pressed Congress to pose tough questions about whether Fallon was dismissed for voicing dissent against a rush to war with Iran.
Congress needs to determine immediately whether Admiral Fallons resignation is another example of truth tellers being forced to the sidelines in the Bush Administration. His departure must not clear the way for a rush to war with Iran.
Admiral Fallon has been a voice of common sense and truth in an Administration where candor has been in tragically short supply. He was correct in warming that we diverted resources from Afghanistan to fight a war of choice in Iraq, and correct in warning of the risks of a rush to war with Iran.
Over these last seven Bush years, weve seen those who toe the company line get rewarded and those who speak inconvenient truths get retired. We know that George Tenet got the Medal of Freedom for slam dunk evidence on non-existent WMDs and General Shinseki got retired for telling the truth about the troop levels needed in Iraq.
The looming question now is whether the cost of Admiral Fallons candor was his job.
squids!
Kerry served in Vietnam and went to Cambodia at Christmas.
And got three Purple Hearts for three purple scratches!
Who knew?
That was under President Richard E. Nixon, wasn't it?
Jenghis Khan on line two, senator.
Oh good! Another investigation to keep them busy.
I don’t know about any of this, but I did hear that this guy was in Vietnam.
I'm certain that never happened in ANY OTHER ADMINISTRATION, ever.
whatta dork.
Yeah, but what is Britney Spear’s opinion? About as relevant.....
Ho ho ho Cki Minh!
President Bush is Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces... you are NOT. Sit down and STFU you sickening piece of garbage.
I must have missed the SF180 release..got that out yet, Senator? And by the way, what is your client number?
STFU John Kerry
I think that was the same Nixon he mentioned.
Lame brain Kerry is always good for a little comic relief.
I wonder if that was the same “non-existent WMDs” John talked about before Bush even came to office. *laughing* Kerry was a screw up in the 60s and 70s and he’s STILL a crew up today. At least he’s constant in that at least.
Well a bullet in the butt should count for something, dontcha think? :)
J F’n K worrying about truthtellers?
How would he recognize one?
