After being forced to respond to three separate incidents in recent weeks of conservatives alluding to Barack Obama's middle name, John McCain's campaign manager today sent a memo to top supporters urging them to stick to the campaign's preferred message -- and to avoid taking gratuitous shots at their Democratic rivals.
"We expect that all supporters, surrogates and staff will hold themselves to similarly high standards when they are representing the campaign. To help guide you, please find talking points below."

Me, though I don't support His Emperor, have nevertheless, taken the high road and have taken to refer to B.O. as "Barack ("Peace Be Upon His Middle No Name") Obama.
For all who have (and continue to) criticize those of us (as well as Rush for suggesting same) who voted for The Beast, this is just more proof that unless the Dhummy nomination process is extended thru the convention, and Hitlery and her surogates such as Geraldine Ferraro, take the fight to B.O., no one on the Republican side will dare lay a glove on The Presumptive Annointed One.
The tumult, confusion and chaos which is being exibited within the DemoRat party is something to be savored and encouraged and cannot but help hurt them and could even end up splintering them if it ends up getting out of hand. We can only hope and pray.
McCain has morphed in to a pansy or is senile. Neither of which we need as CiC.
Sorry, Maverick John.
This conservative is not addicted to aisle-crossing, especially when one considers the historically odious bunch across the aisle.
Reminds one of an NVA officer shoving papers in front of POWs and telling them to read it into radio microphones now doesn`t it ( ahem..songbird) .
Pathetic journalism. The campaign manager was not FORCED to respond. The campaign manager and his candidate CHOSE to respond, because they are afraid of taking on the real enemy. Instead, McCain's campaign seems inclined to attack CONSERVATIVES instead of liberals.
Well that counts me out.
Calling Obama by his middle name is okay on Talk Radio and FR. In the real world, it is best to attack Obama’s Marxist record. Obama poses a challenge for conservatives. Any criticism of Obama is seen thru a racist smell test.
So McCain is now outlawing mavericks?
"Just shut up and hold your nose, you filthy conservatives!
Nothing gets between me and my buddies in the Democrat Party!"
He just lost my vote. I’ll vote for the Libertarian candidate - he’s GOT to be more conservative than this.
Good girl. You have been set free.
That’s a wide stance....I wonder if McCain and Larry Craig are buddies.....
sí señor McCain
Ok. Now I had to change my tagline. It used to start with “I’m no fan of McCain” but that is too much of an understatement! Soon it will probably morph in to “I can’t stand..”
Lucky for Juan, short of his advocating surrender and infanticide, I could never prefer the opposition.
Yes, sir, Maverick, Sir!
Wait...I’m not an ally. So screw that.
I haven’t taken shots at his name but if it irritates McCain so much I’m tempted to do so. But I’m certainly not going to insult people who do choose to do so.
Every day, McCain shows why he will not win this election. He keeps censoring others and shooting his allies in the back.
You know, like he has done to us Conservatives for the last eight years.
Please,Lord, have mercy on us and let this dolt politically implode before September’s convention. We need a non-Manchurian cnadidate.
Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth. lol
