Al Gore has been unfairly accused of unsound environmental practices, according to Kaylee Kreider, his spokeswoman. The former vice president actually leads an eco-conscious green life complete with solar energy and geothermal heating.
His critics say he's attempting "to rewrite history."
In question is an advertising campaign that begins today by the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI). The broadcast spot says Mr. Gore's Tennessee residence uses 20 times more energy than the average American household a claim based on damning information released last year by the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, which examined Mr. Gore's utility bills.
"The data that is cited in this ad is fairly old. The Tennessee Center for Policy Research and the Competitive Enterprise Institute are using dated and inaccurate information," Ms. Kreider said yesterday.

I stopped reading right there. I am now going to do my Karnac the Magnificent bit.
I already know what Algore's PR Flunky is going to say. I remember the stories about how The Great Bloviator painted the shutters on that pig of a house green last Fall, and replaced several of his lightbulbs with CFLs and put solar panels on the roof. But this is pretty thin lipstick on a pretty big pig.
The fact of the matter is that even with every green innovation that Algore and his substantial piles of money could afford, that house is still going to consume 10 times the average for that area.
So Ms. Krieder is going to throw the BS about this and that enviro-weenie feature, and may even site a total consumption reduction figure (which will be fantasy, of course, because we have not even seen how all this stuff performs in the Summer yet), but will assiduously avoid any discussion of absolute consumption levels.
I will now resume reading this pack of lies.

Good Lord, how many dead trees are piled on his desk? One would think that he could read what he needed on on that 150+ inches of power sucking display devices he has in front of his pie hole.
You forgot to take into account the “carbon credits” he buys from himself. So he could be buying thousands of dollars worth of energy-consumption carbon credits every month and subtracting that figure. Let’s call it “warm-and-fuzzy math.”
Also, wouldn’t an erasable whiteboard be much more eco-friendly that the paper easel he has in the corner? I bet he sheds a tear every time hi rips a page off and throws it in the recycle bin. Oh wait, I don’t see the tell-tale blue bin, just a little trash can with a plastic liner. You don’t think he just tosses those pages of tic-tac-toe games in the trash, do you?
Looks like 30” is the largest Apple Cinema Display
I just LOVE those non biased sources.
Haven't you heard? The debates over.
I have a hundred year old house a bit over 3000 sq ft and heated full basement, pay less then 2k annual energy cost. We have done a lot of work to make it like that 'cause I am cheap. Also the heating/cooling degree day units are more for Chicagoland then Tennessee.
Al is a pig in more ways then one.
