The alleged leader of the prostitution ring that tripped up Eliot Spitzer is credentialed to represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service, an IRS spokesman confirmed Tuesday.
According to prosecutors, Mark "Michael" Brener, 62, had "ultimate decision-making authority" over the Emperor’s Club VIP prostitution service. They say he recruited "prospective prostitutes," handled the group’s marketing, and settled disputes between prostitutes and their clients.
He is also a licensed "enrolled agent" of the IRS, spokesman Rob Marvin confirmed. That means Brener was allowed to prepare and submit other people's taxes, represent others in tax court and in negotiations with the IRS, and receive information directly from the IRS on behalf of others.
According to the IRS Web site, you can become an enrolled agent by passing a written examination, or by having previously worked for the IRS.
Marvin said he could not confirm whether or not Brener had ever worked for the IRS.
The requirements for being an enrolled agent are stringent: an applicant must pass a background check to ensure that he or she has "not engaged in any conduct that would justify" their suspension or disbarment, says IRS.gov.

Okay, this would be a way for Hillary! to get blackmail information on superdelegates (which Spitzer is one) and if they don’t fall in line.....................they get “Spitzered.”
I had heard that Spitzer was leaning toward Obama. With my tinfoil hat firmly in place, I am guessing he wouldn’t listen to Hillary!, and she thought that having the governor of the state she represents as a senator endorse her opponent was, well, worth a warning to the rest of the SD crowd.

Your 'conspiricy theory' might have some merit to it, as Spitzer has collected quite an impressive list of 'enemies' ... both politically (even within his own party!) and outside of 'politics'. He is not a well liked man, and will not survive this politically, unlike Bill Clinton did.

So, if this guy is a US citizen (presumably a naturalized citizen) since he had the Israeli passport, would that mean he has dual citizenship?
This is not to say that those ppl didn't deserve getting 'screwed', maybe they did(?) ... but thats not the point. The point is that if you're going to spar with the big boys, then expect the big boys to more than 'screw you' back when given the chance.
Spitzer in his arrogance has accomplished just that.

My sweetie also wondered if perhaps Hillary was somewhere behind the news on Spitzer. But after considering it more it was hard to come up with how this Spitzer scandel would help Hillary. With the way things are coming out now it does not look like good press for the DEMS in any way. Heard that Hillary had her web site “cleaned” of any reference to Spitzer.

Well, if Spitzer resigns as governor, then whoever the superdelegate is who takes his place is guaranteed to be a Hillary! supporter.
I don’t think they have certified “enrolled agents” in a number of years. Today, I think you must have an accounting degree and be a CPA.
