March 11, 2008 -- Cheers erupted on trading floors around the city yesterday as word spread of the stunning downfall of Gov. Spitzer - who spent most of his term as attorney general torturing Wall Street with his witch hunt for financial wrongdoing.

An employee of a major investment bank, who requested anonymity, said the company chef had been instructed to break out bottles of champagne so that the staff could party and swap jokes about "client No. 9."

Meanwhile, at another giant firm, Merrill Lynch, "everyone broke into cheering on the trading floor," an employee said. Merrill got socked for hundreds of millions of dollars in penalties, thanks to Spitzer.

And just think, soon “Kristen” will give her sworn testimony about just what they did up there, and why he might have requested things “not safe”.

"I work in one the industry’s Spitzer has a hard-on for..."

So do I, yet while I'm laughing hysterically at all this, I'm still kinda holding my breath when I can because he hasn't bit the bullet, YET!!!

As an aside... Wellpoint sure drug most of the big health insurers down something awful today. I think they are finally scared to death of this coming November and have as little confidence in MucKain winning as I do.

I wonder if there was some personal vendetta or “hurt feelings” with Spitzie going after Wall Street. I mean, Big Daddy S. made his fortune in real estate, no?!

a pal quipped that Grasso was likely laughing too hard to speak.

Dick Grasso is a man of solid character, who led the NYSE ably though the post-9/11 crisis. Spitzer was an absolute lowlife schmuck for going after his well-deserved $150 million pay package--after 35 years of employment. I didn't see him going after Jason Giambi's even larger contract with the Yankees, whom he defrauded by using steroids.

Spitzer May Have Spent Big on Call Girls

By MICHAEL GORMLEY

Associated Press Writer

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- With pressure mounting on Gov. Eliot Spitzer to resign over a call-girl scandal, investigators said Tuesday he was clearly a repeat customer who spent tens of thousands of dollars - perhaps as much as $80,000 - with the high-priced prostitution service over an extended period of time
