Ferraro defends controversial comments on Barack Obama-(Ferraro Says She's A Victim Of RACISM!)

Former vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro today defended a remark she made to the Daily Breeze last week, in which she suggested that Sen. Barack Obama would not be where he is if he were white.

In an interview with the Breeze, Ferraro said, "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color), he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

The comment was picked up by political blogs and cable news shows across the country. The Obama campaign held a conference call today to denounce the remark, and Obama surrogates urged Sen. Hillary Clinton to repudiate it. (SNIP_ But far from backing off from her initial remark, Ferraro defended it and elaborated on it.

"Any time anybody does anything that in any way pulls this campaign down and says let's address reality and the problems we're facing in this world, you're accused of being racist, so you have to shut up," Ferraro said. "Racism works in two different directions. I really think they're attacking me because I'm white. How's that?"

Rush was talking about the way the media treated McNabb. The subject of his comments was the media not McNabb.

Yeah, she played the “I’m a girl, so all the girls should vote for me” card at the closing of the last debate.

She’s girl enough for Janet Reno, that’s all I know.

She’s a superdelegate, and she has declared that she will vote for Hillary, but she does not work for the campaign, and the campaign cannot fire her. They could repudiate her remarks, but it would be pretty stupid to repudiate a non-offensive and truthful statement that Obama wouldn’t be considered for President if he was not black.

“Cry unfair racism.”
The closet muslin, barak HUSSEIN obama, can cry racism all he wants, but he will not change my mind. He may collect 50 times more campaign money than anybody else; yet he will not change my mind. How is it, that there are so many weak minded Americans out there?

“The Womynists are pissed because they’re finding that, as far as the media are concerned, racism trumps sexism as an issue.”

This reminds me when, at the beginning of the OJ trial, the prosecutors were pleased that they had several black women on the jury because they’d sympathize with the female victim Nicole.

Yeah right. There are people who actually believe this stuff until harsh reality hits them in the face a few times.

The only reason whey Ferraro was on the Mondale ticket, was because she is a woman. Had she been a man(she comes close), we wouldn't know much about the name ferraro.

John Edwards was running a campaign even more to the left of Obama before dropping out. If he had been black, I guarantee he would have gotten a ton more attention from the media, and would have fared much better in the primaries.

She’d only qualify as a hero if she pointed out that Hillary is only a serious contender because she’s a woman, and that Geraldine was only nominated for VP because she was a woman (both of which are as true as what she said about Obama).

Gosh, I’m having a hard time deciding which Dem is the biggest victim, right along with which is the biggest fool. How can anyone with half a brain seriously consider voting for these people? The whole thing is just embarrassing for women, blacks and anyone who at any time thought any of them worthy of consideration for any public office. Can you just visualize their type of diplomacy....there they are trying to tell the big, bad ___________, “you can’t say/do that that to me, I’m a minority and a victim” Yeah, that’s the ticket for sure. We’ll all be safe and snug in their victim world.

I’ll say this much: This is precisely why I believe Obama would be more dangerous than Hillary. All Obama would do if Republicans opposed his socialism is cry racism.

“They’re against me ‘cause I’m black” and the Republicans will cave every time. That’s my concern.

Mine too, and it has been for a while. Being as weak-kneed as our Republican Senators and Congressmen have shown themselves time and time again to be, I don't understand why more on our side haven't realized this. I don't think he'll even have to pull the race card himself; all the useful idiots in the press will be salivating to do it for him. And as for our guys, I don't think they'll ever get to the point of even initially opposing him on anything out of spineless fear of that. Hillary would be a piece of cake for our guys to oppose if she won; she's always been extremely unlikable and is a terrible communicator.
