You nail him perfectly - a thug, a subverter of republican political processes, who harmed or destroyed a number of people mainly for his own political aggrandizement while AG in order to become governor, which in turn he likely imagined getting into position to be president.
I had speculated that he was the kind of guy who would in fact use hookers despite being so high profile, based on this personality, but I never ever imagined it would be confirmed.

I am with you. I am not sure why when the guy is a no good philander, people on FR start in on the wife. Sort of like it isn’t goood enough to see him wiped out, they want the entire family wiped out.

Immorality does cross all aspects of life. However, the rats are in a class by themselves for arrogance, hypocrisy, and above the law behavior. There is nothing in the Republican side to balance behavior such as Slick, Gary Stubbs, William Jefferson, Hillary, Barney Frank, JFK (either one), and others. Republicans caught in immoral or illegal behavior are usually booted quick. Rats take it as a badge of honor to evade and then avoid consequences.
